CNN  —

A CSX train derailed in southeastern Virginia on Thursday, injuring two engineers and sparking a fire, CNN affiliate WAVY reported, citing authorities.

The incident, which occurred in Southampton County, was reported at 2:30 a.m., according to Maj. Gene Drewery with the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office.

The train derailed between the Dominion Power Plant and the Ashland Chemical Plant, he said.

The train was slowing into the chemical plant when it derailed. There was a diesel fuel spill, and not a chemical spill, and it has been contained. The fire was big, Drewery said, but it too has been contained.
