3D-printed gun —
The 'Liberator' is a 3D-printable single-shot firearm. The weapon is the inventino of Cody Wilson, a Texan law student. Blueprints for the gun were initially distributed via Wilson's company's website, but they were taken down after a demand from the U.S. Department of State

Plastic weapon —
Despite the ban, the gun's plans were downloaded 100,000 times before its removal. They can still be found on file sharing websites such as The Pirate Bay.

Design object —
The Victoria and Albert Museum said that their acquisition of the 3D-printed firearm was 'representative of current trends in design and society.'

On display —
Two prototypes of the Liberator pistol will be on display at the V&A museum -- one fully constructed and one disassembled to show its component parts.
