The Navy SEAL killed in a parachute training accident this week in Arizona was identified as Special Warfare Operator Chief Brett D. Shadle, 31, of Elizabethville, Pennsylvania, the Navy said Saturday.

Shadle was assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit and was part of SEAL Team Six, the same elite squad that includes those chosen to go after Osama bin Laden in Pakistan two years ago, according to the Navy and a source familiar with the matter.

A second SEAL injured in the free-fall parachute training remains in stable condition, the Navy said Saturday. The accident, which is under investigation, occurred Thursday in a rugged part of the U.S. Special Operations Command facility at Pinal Airpark, Arizona.
