Do you know where this photo was taken?
CNN will post a new photo each Monday morning and reveal the answer later that day
The photo might be related to a recent story -- or it could just be something unusual we found
[Updated 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 5] This intricately decorated subway station is in Pyongyang, North Korea. The photo was taken four years ago, around the time when the New York Philharmonic Orchestra became the first U.S. orchestra to play in the country.
North Korea made headlines last week when it announced that it would be suspending nuclear activities in return for food aid from the United States.
The U.S. is taking a cautious but optimistic approach to the development.
“Today’s announcement represents a modest first step in the right direction. We, of course, will be watching closely and judging North Korea’s new leaders by their actions,” U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Wednesday before the House Appropriations Committee.
In our CNN.com photo challenge, “askantik” was the first reader to respond with Pyongyang. Another reader, “505Kique,” identified the rear mural in the subway station as “The Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Among Workers.” The one on the right is called “Song of a Bumper Crop.” Thanks to everyone who participated!
