A Sudanese military helicopter taking off on a mission near El Obeid Airport crashed early Friday, the state-run SUNA news agency reported.

Six members of the helicopter crew were killed, the news agency reported.

The helicopter caught fire within minutes of takeoff and crashed while the pilot was attempting to land, according to SUNA

The crew was carrying weapons for the military, the news agency said.

There were no reported injuries on the ground, SUNA said.
