1-year-old child among 8 shot in Oakland, California

Eight people, including a 1-year-old child, were shot in Oakland, California, on Monday evening, police said.

Oakland police said the incident took place in front of a fast-food restaurant in west Oakland at about 6 p.m.

When officers arrived, they learned the eight people had been taken to local hospitals in private vehicles. The conditions of the shooting victims have not been released

Authorities are investigating what led to the incident.
