The search for the missing girl was stopped

CNN  —

Police in Carrollton, Texas, searching for a missing 10-year-old girl found the body of a Hispanic female Sunday afternoon and have stopped the search for the child.

The body, which was found just blocks from where the girl disappeared, has not been identified, said Lt. Doug Mitchell.

Police responded Saturday night to a missing child report. They launched a search that lasted until late Sunday afternoon, Mitchell said.

Police found the body of the Hispanic female at approximately 3:35 p.m. CT, he added.

CNN affiliate WFAA identified the missing girl as Jasmen Gonzalez. She and her parents are from Oklahoma City and were visiting relatives, the station reported.

She was described by WFAA as Hispanic, 4 feet 3 inches tall, 90 pounds with long brown hair.

“There’s a lot of investigative work that still has to be done. We’ll take it one step at a time … We’ll come to a resolution,” Mitchell told reporters.
