Amazing and over-the-top jack-o’-lanterns
Michael Wallo —
ThisOldHouse.com shared the winners of its fourth annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. This salty man, carved by Michael Wallo of Edmond, Oklahoma, seems to have brought a few of the sea creatures home with him, including fish, squid and crab. See the full gallery of winning entries.
Keyvin Pollington —
Keyvin Pollington of Sandy, Utah, "painted" a portrait of Apple founder Steve Jobs by copying an iconic photograph. He created subtle changes in shading by carving away different thicknesses of the pumpkin wall without cutting all the way through.
Curt Peterson —
The face for one of two jabbering grumps, which Curt Peterson of Mill Creek, Washington, titled "Will This Guy Ever Shut Up?" took about four hours to carve.
Karyn Poplin —
Karyn Poplin of Fort Worth, Texas, imagined what it would look like if Tiffany & Co. carved a pumpkin and made a lamp out of it.
Rebecca Durnell —
Rebecca Durnell of Cincinnati carved the intricate details of her haunted graveyard using the best implements on hand: a Dremel rotary tool, an X-Acto knife and manicure tools.
