Going for gold —
Britain's Dai Green and Javier Culson of Puerto Rico battle for the gold medal in the men's 400 meter hurdles final.
Glory for Greene —
It was Greene who emerged victorious to capture his first global title. Culson took silver, with L.J. van Zyl of South Africa in the bronze medal position.
Demus' delight —
Lashinda Demus of the U.S. clinched the gold medal in the women's event. Jamaica's Melaine Walker, who won this title in 2009 and is the reigning Olympic champion, came home second with Natalya Antyukh third for Russia.
Breakaway Barringer Simpson —
Jennifer Barringer Simpson put in a strong finish to take the women's 1500m crown. The 25-year-old finished just 0.28 seconds ahead of Britain's Hannah England.
Jesse jumps to victory —
There was a further gold medal for the U.S. in the men's high jump, where Jesse Williams cleared a height of 2.35m to edge out Aleksey Dmitrik.
Saladuha's success —
Olha Saladuha leapt to gold for the Ukraine in the women's triple jump final, recording a jump of 14.94m. Kazakhstan's Olga Rypakova finished with a silver medal, while Caterine Ibarguen of Colombia took bronze.
