- I’ve talked to a number of House Republican freshmen. They are in a fighting mood. They tell me that in their mind the McConnell-Reid-Pelosi Pontius Pilate compromise (pretty cool they’re starting to call it that) is dead on arrival, as is the Gang of 6 plan. Many of them express anger at their leadership for what they feel like is a leadership effort to undermine them all sticking together on this.
- Meanwhile, in Georgia, Saxby Chambliss is getting pilloried by constituents. On my radio show last night on WSB Atlanta, I fielded a dozen or so calls in one hour with people demanding Herman Cain drop out of the Presidential race and come home to run against Saxby Chambliss.
- Why are Washington Post reporters calling staffers unsolicited on Capitol Hill about Michele Bachmann? Several staffers tell me they have gotten called with the reporter assuming the staffer had worked for Bachmann. Some did. Some didn’t. WaPo wasn’t trying to confirm information, but rather wanted information about possible Bachmann “antics.” I guess the Post feels like it has dropped the ball and got scooped by the Daily Caller and Politico on the headache story.
