How would you feel if the surgeon operating on you was a robot?

What are the chances that a human surgeon will drop dead from cardiac arrest as he/she is operating on you? As soon as the chances of the robot surgeon having a systems crash better that of it's human companion, I'll gladly go under it's scalpel.
Michael Murrithi, Nairobi (Oct. 5)
--------------------------------------------------------

A robot all by itself I would not like. However, I think robots should be employed to the greatest possible extent in the medical field to assist doctors in making quick, accurate and safe surgeries. Ultimately it will boost efficiency in the overburdened medical industry and decrease the cost of treatment for patients.
Matt Fissenger, U.S (April 27)

If a robot could cure my illness, then I wouldn't mind having it as my surgeon. Welmen Sohl, Micronesia (April 27)

That wouldn't be a nice feeling, watching mechanical arms working on me. What if there's a software failure? Then I believe the results would be catastrophic, besides, robots are supposed to help people's work become easier and not make the people unemployed.
Michael Emeke, Germany (April 27)
-------------------------------------------------------

Being a doctor myself, I am enthusiastic about our robotic future. I would welcome a robot's helping hand in the hospital. Human-robot integration is our future and so I'd feel great WHEN my doctor becomes a robot for this is, I think, an inevitability.
Momir Pantelic, Belgrade, Serbia
(April 27)

I'll feel more secure because a high-tech robot surgeon will have an unquestionably lower error margin as concerns surgical accuracy.
Mekongcho Metuge, Cameroon
(April 26)
-------------------------------------------------------

I guess a robot will be exact in carrying out specific surgical operations. But what happens when unforeseen complications arise? My fear lies in the ability of the robot to respond as the human surgeon would in such a delicate situation. There's fear!
Fr Cajetan Ugboma, Nigeria
(April 26)
--------------------------------------------------------

I would feel very uncomfortable. It will take a long time for me to accept that such an operation will be successful. In fact, I will not allow myself to be operated by a robot.
Gerhard Mukuahima, Namibia (April 26)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't think I would get scared or anything of that sort. Already, patients in surgical beds are surrounded by robotic equipment with the only humans being the surgeons, and their assistants, using these machines. So I won't feel a big impact if these few humans are replaced by machines.
Siva, Copenhagen, Denmark (April 25)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This technology makes diagnosis and therapies more accurate. I don't feel that there is any differences between robots and human beings.
Yoori, Korea (April 25)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If my surgeon was a robot I would be afraid because it might make a deadly mistake that can cost one's life.
Amiwero Destiny, Nigeria (April 25)
