ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- R&B singer Faith Evans -- once married to slain rapper Notorious B.I.G. -- will appear Wednesday before an Atlanta judge after her arrest on drug possession charges, authorities say.

Evans and her husband-manager, Todd Russaw, were charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine, said Lt. Clarence Huber of the Fulton County Sheriff's Department. Evans also was charged with having an improper vehicle tag.

The two are being held in the Fulton County Jail and are set to appear Wednesday morning before a judge.

Evans and Russaw were arrested in Hapeville, south of Atlanta near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Huber said. Evans lives in Alpharetta, a northern Atlanta suburb, according to her Web site.

Hapeville police declined to confirm the details of the couple's arrest.

Evans recently appeared with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyonce Knowles in the film "The Fighting Temptations."

Her first husband, Notorious B.I.G., whose real name was Christopher Wallace, was shot and killed in 1997 while leaving a music industry party in Los Angeles, California.
