Queen Latifah arrested on DUI charge
LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Hip-hop star and actress Queen Latifah spent part of Wednesday in jail after being charged with driving under the influence in an early morning traffic stop.
Latifah, whose real name is Dana Owens, was pulled over by officers at 3:15 a.m., said Officer Alex Delgadillo of the California Highway Patrol.
He said she was driving a 2003 Cadillac Escalade north on U.S. 101 when she was observed making an unsafe lane change. Several field sobriety tests were conducted, and the performer was arrested and taken to jail.
She did not resist arrest in any way and was cooperative with the arresting officers, Delgadillo said.
She posted a $2,500 bail and was released from custody with a December 12 court date.
Latifah, 32, received a 1994 Grammy for best rap solo performance for "U.N.I.T.Y." She also has starred in TV shows such as "Living Single" and appeared in movies such as "Living Out Loud" and "Brown Sugar."
