CNN Seoul producer KJ Kwon has obtained a picture of a purported text message from a student who is or was trapped on the South Korean ferry. The text message was received by the student's mother who said she received the message following the incident on Wednesday. She also shared it with various media outlets.

The text of the message, in Korean reads:
"No phone connection so there is no internet connection. So just sending text message. There are few people on the ship, can't see a thing, it's totally dark. So there are few men and women, women are screaming.

There are a few people in the ship and we are not dead yet so please send along this message."
CNN cannot independently confirm when the authenticity of the message or when it was sent. Shows can describes this as one of the ways relatives say they found out about ((the fate of)) their loved-ones onboard the ferry.
