Leadership of at least nine churches are urging their DC congregants to gather on Sunday for a rally in downtown DC in an event entitled "Stand Up! Make the Covenant" in which the participants are asked to answer the cry for help from the most vulnerable members of the nation; to stake a stand against violence; to take a stand against the senseless loss of life and to promote peace. The rally is being held in remembrance of the lives lost and in solidarity with the community and law enforcement. Stand Up! Make the Covenant, is an accountability pledge between the Christian church and the community for peace and justice within black communities.
