Argentina asumió la presidencia pro tempore del Mercosur en Buenos Aires, pero no sin controversia por la visita inesperada de la canciller venezolana Delcy Rodríguez a quien se le negó la participación en la reunión. La canciller Susana Malcorra explicó que Venezuela "tiene derecho a usar las herramientas de resolución de controversias".
