Security guard Richard Jewell, who found the bomb that exploded in Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park, is cleared as a suspect in the deadly blast. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in July had identified him as a suspect in the crime, setting off a frenzy of media attention and speculation. FBI agents investigated Jewell, but he is never charged. The Justice Department issues an unusual statement saying that he is no longer a "target" in the investigation.
