    Yazhou Sun is a planning producer based in CNN's Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong, where she chases newsmakers from various fields including politics, international relations, business and more for CNN International's flagship programs.

    Since joining CNN, Yazhou has covered several breaking news stories out of North Korea. She locked down the network's first interview with Koro Bessho, the Japanese Ambassador to the United Nations after three ballistic missiles landed in the Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone in 2016. When the battle to liberate Mosul began, she secured an interview with Brigadier General Sirwan Barzani of the Peshmerga for the network.

    Yazhou has substantial experience in covering business news, and has produced several high-profile interviews, including those of Mongolian Prime Minister Chimed Saikhanbileg, Philippine Finance Minister Carlos Dominguez III, and owner of Aston Villa Football Club Tony Xia.

    Prior to CNN, Yazhou worked as an associate producer at ABC News' Nightline in New York City. Yazhou attended Boston University, where she earned a dual degree in Economics and Journalism, and speaks Mandarin and Japanese.
