Theodore Schleifer is a reporter for CNN Politics, tracking 2016's presidential race, money's influence in politics and breaking news stories.

    Schleifer joined CNN from the Houston Chronicle, where he covered local campaigns and elections with an eye towards Houston's unique political demographics. During his time at the Chronicle, he broke the news that Cruz would be the first Republican candidate to jump into the 2016 presidential race.

    Prior to his time in Texas, Schleifer was a David E. Rosenbaum Reporting Fellow for The New York Times. Schleifer also spent time writing for the City Desk of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

    Schleifer is a magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University, where he wrote an award-winning thesis on the impact of presidential speeches and served as news editor of The Daily Princetonian.
