Deena Zaru is a digital producer for CNN, where she supports day-to-day production of content for CNN Politics. Working with the team, she ensures stories are maximized across the appropriate platform including CNN Politics' desktop, mobile and social properties. She also writes for the breaking news team.

    Zaru has served in a number of roles during her four years at CNN, including most recently working as a guest booker and a graphics producer for State of the Union with Candy Crowley. She researched and planned the shows segments, interviewed guests and produced video for air. Zaru also served as an Editorial Assistant for Network Booking and as a news assistant in CNN's Washington Bureau, providing production support for live and taped programming.

    She started her career at CNN in 2009, as an intern for the Capitol Hill unit, where she worked with correspondents Dana Bash and Brianna Keilar.

    A graduate of Guilford College, Zaru is fluent in Arabic and spent time teaching English in the Middle East.
