Before becoming an infamous Nazi leader, Hitler had been turned down twice by Vienna's Academy of Fine Arts. Starting his life as an Austrian boy with artistic promise, he eventually grew to be an adult who painted when he could.
A portion of Hitler's hundreds of pieces are believed to have been completed over breaks while serving during World War I. The auctioned collection is said to have been found in a farmhouse in the Flanders region of Belgium, near where Hitler had been stationed.
