Map: Premature birth rates

The rate of preterm births in the United States has been dropping in recent years, and is at the lowest in a decade, at 11.7%, as of 2011. But there are still disparities among the states. Mississippi, which has the highest rate, also has the country's biggest infant mortality and obesity problems.
