This image was taken May 16, 1998, from the commander's seat of the space shuttle training simulator at Johnson Space Center in Houston. The commander's and pilot's work stations are positioned side by side in the forward portion of the flight deck and have controls and displays for maintaining autonomous control of the vehicle. Two shoulder harnesses (visible) and a lap belt provide restraint.
