Learn about the leader of the free world

January 9, 2001
Web posted at: 3:52 PM EST (2052 GMT)

"When do they actually get the keys to the White House?"

"How does a person manage being president and a parent?"

"Just what does a president do, anyway?"

We are consistently shown images of the president, from inauguration to signing bills into laws even medical exams. But few people actually know what it's like to be on the inside, to see the president with his children, to hear the president compose his addresses to the nation or to see how an incoming president prepares to take over the hardest job in the world.

Join CNNfyi.com on January 18 for Leading the Nation: The Presidency for a closer look at the person who is president. The online materials for Leading the Nation: The Presidency include lessons, news articles, backgrounders, interactive activities, work sheets, a glossary and, of course, our live events. Through live webcasts and moderated discussions with nationally renowned experts, you'll find out about:

  • The role of the presidency
  • Transition of power
  • Presidents and their families
  • The qualities of a leader in the media age

To make the Leading the Nation learning adventure even more useful, CNNfyi.com will archive the video and moderated discussion questions and answers about two weeks after the live event.
