House Democrats -- now in control of both houses of the U.S. Congress for the first time in 12 years -- started the clock ticking Tuesday afternoon on their self-imposed 100-hour deadline to pass priority legislation, beginning with a national security bill.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has promised to push her party's priorities with "an aggressive legislative agenda." President Bush has urged Democrats to work with Republicans in a spirit of bipartisanship.
