The secret lives of candidates
From cartoonist Brixton Doyle See more of his work ![]() Like a beauty queen flustered by a simple question, Fred Thompson's recent campaign gaffes exposed a seeming liability. While he's a paragon of decisiveness on TV, is he clueless when he goes off-script in the real world? What do you think? Comment below.
Please send this poor excuse for a candidate back to his TV series. He is an insult to thinking Americans.
Do you really think you're funny...?
I was watching Fred Thompson on C-Span a couple weeks ago and he seems clueless. At first I was willing to vote for him but now I don't think he would be a good choice. His speeches would be great since he is an actor but having said that he would be like GWB when he's on the road.
Great cartoon -- you really got to the heart of the difference between how old Fred the actor appears when he has a script and Fred, sans script. Thanks.
And just how clever do you all think Billary is without a well written script in front of her? I won't defend Thompson, but I will say you are all clueless to believe any of the other cadidates aren't bubmling morons without their speech writers...
Hopefully the "phenomenon" that is Fred will burn itself out quickly. He is the epitome of the empty suit. I think many look to him to be the new Reagan because he is tall and has worked professionally as an actor! But the comparison ends there.
Maybe there is some substance somewhere in that red pickup truck, but I'm beginning to doubt it. So let's see, we have the well coiffed Mormon, the mayor of 9/11, the no-longer-straight talk express, the anti-evolutionists, and now the strutting character actor. Vote Ron Paul.
Better a slow thinking republican than a control freak socialist named Hillary.
This is a response to JH of SC.
It's true that any candidate will look better than he/she really is with a written script; however, you have to recognized that GWB and FT are two of a kind- complete idiots. I sure hope that the United States will not become the only developed country to elect two idiots in a row as its president.
I'm a registered Democrat but have never voted for a Democratic President. If the Republicans don't come up with someone better than those in the race today, the next President is a Democrat.
