Legacy
This shows what will happen. Historians will look back and say, "Bush had an opportunity to unite the world after September 11th. We had unparalleled support around the world. We could have dealt with the actual people involved with the attack and use that good will to improve the global picture in many ways. Instead he resorted to tactics designed to line his pockets and the pockets of his cronies. He worked for personal power."
History could have recorded him ad a great president. Instead he'll go down as just another power hungry madman.
No Michael - that's what historians say about Clinton, and to some extent Bush 41. They did little of anything in addressing terrorist states.
As critical as you want to be of Bush's military campaign and divisive politics, he will be remembered for overthrowing tyrants in Iraq and Afghanistan and establishing democratic republics, which chances are will be flourishing in a few decades. As for taking care of the "the actual people involved with the attack" there is still time to do a whole lot about Iran and Saudi Arabia. |
