Coexist
Great cartoon! That'd make a terrific bumper sticker or T-shirt...and it's so true...very clever.
Wow. Now there's some satire. Nice work. Sharp as a tack. Subtle too. And in not catering to stereotypes in the slightest. Shows a lot of education.
This word and sign should be the logo/motto of all who fight for tolerance.....Good One....Go ahead cartoonist make your mark...make a push for it
This is patently racist and offensive. It reminds me of the propaganda techniques employed against the Japanese during world war II. I thought we, as a culture, had grown out of that, I guess I was wrong.
Actively dicrediting any race or religion is not funny. I'm sorry that Dean Turnbloom thinks it is, but sorrier still that CNN agrees with him. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.
I dont neccessarily find it as offensive as the last person comment suggest it is. I am young black man, my girlfriend is Palestinian Arab and when I see this Logo-Art i think " COEXIST " Instead of an artistic arabic weilding Sword and turban a Giant question mark should of been used. This is only my opinion and that little thing could of made a world of difference to the cartoon think about it...
Great cartoon, aside from the horrible stereotype. In fact, I had a hard time figuring out the "coexist" message because I was focused on the sword-and-sandal-and-turban. It's shameful, really, how can you promote coexistance while blatantly bashing an entire culture?
How is this even remotely acceptable? I agree with the sentiments of a previous poster who thought that as a country we had moved past this sort of stereotypical depiction of other people.
I'm not sure if CNN really wants to promote some of the things Mr. Turnbloom is implying...
I agree with the comment above. A question mark would be better. There are extremists in every religion. And they will stop at nothing to keep us from coexisting. The drawing seems to single one religion out. Is this because extreimists who follow this religion are causing the most trouble at this point in time. The question is if we can coexist and defeat extremism together?
