The pope in Turkey

SICK
Inflaming passions, eh? Not like what you try to do with your "artwork," I suppose....believe or not, some of us actually respect and love Pope Benedict XVI (and the Church) and trust that he's doing a better job than most people at trying to talk about things honestly rather than picking up the nearest political/cultural insult or terrorist threat and lobbing it at everyone who's not Catholic
Um, in case anyone hadn't noticed... The whole point of Benedict's trip is to visit Patriarch Bartholomew of the Eastern Orthodox Church. He wanted to make the trip last year -- but the Turkish government wouldn't let him. The trip isn't about Catholic/Muslim relations, but about Catholic/Orthodox relations.
You act as if he's going there to bash Muslims with a stick.
This pope is clearly intent on divisive. I am not surprised, after all the 250 year Crusade was also started by a Pope making a speech. The pope callling Islam violent is like the kettle calling the pot black. I think this is a good cartoon.
Go on, post a funny cartoon about a man the man who once led the Muslim faith. What, you've got better things to do all of a sudden?
This so called "cartoon" is an insult to all Catholics. I just wonder why the brave Mr. Brenneman hasn't tried to lampoon the Muslim leaders that Pope Benedict is visiting?
I love it!! Keep 'em comin'!!
"Truth" will always inflame passion. -- whether directly or indirectly.
As a Catholic, who is married to a Muslim, living in Istanbul I can say that the Pope's recent visit here did indeed go a long way in easing tensions. Although there were some protests, the Turkish public were quite pleased with how his visit turned out. The best moment was when the Pope, while at the Hagia Sofia mosque, turned to the east to pray alongside a leading Istanbul iman. Turks were very impressed and moved by this gesture. The real problem, for most Istanbul citizens, with his visit was the fact that so many streets were closed to traffic while he was here which made getting around the city even more of a nightmare!
He looks like Ted Koppel.
