Jake's Take: Powell calls it a civil war
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says it's time for the Bush administration to recognize that Iraq is in civil war. Unfortunately, the Bush administration doesn't even recognize Colin Powell.

I won't believe it until I hear it from retired 4-star General Dick Meyers (Chrmn. Joint Chiefs of Staff 2001 to mid-2003). It's gotta come from Dick
Mr. Powell might just be right he is in the front row as far as I am concerned.
The greater problem is that I do not see where anyone really has any positive strategy to bring this war to some sane conclusion. I would like to offer that we have not learned spit from our history. If the war in Iraq was really an objective war why wasn't their some sort of marshall plan, Why wasn't innocent children removed from danger and placed in a safe nurturing environ. How has the powers that be removed the resources that these terroists use to fight this war. I am not impressed by by the way in which this war has been prosecuted and it tells me that the powers that be really did not consider the humanitarian aspects of this war in the least nor the value of lives that would have been lost, and that is not only for the lives of our soliders under orders from these planners. To make this short whenever situations like this arise and those in charge think so little of the lives involved you really have to ask what is this all about because it shows a lack of compassion and if there is no compassion then it means that the aim of all this is dubious to say the least. All i can say is they had better know what they are doing because now they are allowing those who they excluded from the game before is being allowed to join in the game. Doesn't this mean a sort of capitulation on our path and if that is so we have just given up to the terrorists in a tacet or covert way. Now what is to stop the terrorists from going full speed towards world domination. History should be rolling in its grave. |
