Citizen journalism
Amateur photographer David Seal, seen here in a self-portrait, epitomizes the concept of citizen journalism. Seal is an audio mixer by trade. But, just like a super-hero hears a scream and slips on a cape, Seal saw a breaking news story and slipped into the guise of a journalist.

A wildfire was scorching part of Ventura County, in Moorpark, California, December 1. Seal was driving by then he saw it, grabbed his camera and started shooting. The result was a stunning gallery that captured the intensity of the fire and its effect on residents, human and animal alike.

Seal wasn't just a photojournalist for this story, he was very much a reporter as well. As he told his story to me in a phone interview, his vivid details and infectious enthusiasm practically transported me to the scene. He was a fountain of printable quotes. His experience is the perfect example of what it means to say I-Report for CNN.
Great photographs! Just found this blog.
Truly awesome work, Seal! Kuddos!
