Christmas spirit in Oslo
Oslo is a city that really knows how to decorate and do it up for Christmas. The city twinkles with lights (all of them white) and there are Christmas Carolers everywhere.
A trio of Santas gathered outside our hotel (The Grand) last night, and apparently fueled by aquavit or something, sang Jingle Bells over and over again well into the wee hours. I am shoehorned in a small room on the backside of the hotel (beyond the wi-fi umbrella!) My colleagues who scored spacious suites in the front were a little more “bah humbug” about the long performance. Sometimes being in the cheap seats has its advantages. -- From CNN Anchor/Producer Miles O'Brien
I want to thank CNN for airing the whole of Al Gore's Nobel Peace Prize speech. I thought it was the most magnificent speech I have ever heard - erudite, globally respectful, passionate.
I was very disappointed when John Roberts followed it up with feint praise and included a comment by a nay-sayer as though the comment had as much validity as Gore's. Is CNN pandering to the fossil fuel industry? It seems so.
Prudence and the melody.
Arbours coloured by a soft September breeze delay in the sunshine of a beautiful morning, and a loving profile presents, in a moment, the taste of a dream. Thanks CNN.Thanks America. Francesco Sinibaldi |
