Book closes the gap between immigrant and judicial system

(CNN) -- Lawyer and author Jess J. Araujo points out that the United States is a nation of immigrants, and many people lack an understanding of the legal principles ruling the country. Most of the time it makes no difference if they are legal immigrants working in a profession, or illegal aliens with little education.

In "The Law and Your Legal Rights", Araujo introduces a wide view of the workings of the legal system, and discusses different topics in a simple and complete manner -- from the origins of the American Constitution to the rights and obligations of the immigrant. Araujo also touches on family issues, labor law and civil rights.

"The Law and Your Legal Rights" is presented in a bilingual format. Though focused on the Hispanic immigrant, the book appears it would be very useful for anyone with a special interest in the judiciary system. It does not matter if your first language is English or Spanish.

Araujo makes the topic understandable, which appears to be an exception in the area of legal publications. He favors a simple language, leaving out the complicated terms and Latin words common in his profession.

Something worth mentioning is the quality of the Spanish translation. The English terms are printed beside their Spanish equivalent, which lets the Spanish speaker dispel doubt by seeing it in both English and Spanish.

In addition, the scope of the book is narrowed, enabling the author to focus on the most common problems faced by immigrants in states with a large number of Hispanics.

But Araujo does not mean for the book to become a substitute for professional help. The purpose is only to work as a guide for the immigrant, to ensure that he will be able to determine what kind of legal help is necessary on each particular affair. In addition, it gives a person the capability to determine when things are going the way they should.

"The Law and Your Legal Rights" is a great book for everybody in search of a better understanding of the judiciary system.
