Grisham book hits the shelves

ATLANTA (CNN) -- John Grisham's tenth novel -- "The Testament" -- officially goes on sale Tuesday, and book stores are ready to deliver.

"I'm sure it's already on the bestseller lists," said Eric Harvey, inventory coordinator for Borders Books in Atlanta. "We're receiving phone calls about it, and people are walking in asking for it."

Until Tuesday, however, bookstores are unable to sell the latest high-octane tale from the Mississippi lawyer who helped craft a new American industry under the seemingly dry guise of courtroom thriller.

"The interest is very high on the book," Harvey said. "He's pure entertainment and people love it."

Publicity material on a Grisham website described the book as a mix of legal suspense and adventure revolving around one of the world's richest men.

Grisham rocketed to literary success in 1991 with "The Firm", which stayed on the New York Times bestseller list for 47 weeks.

The successes of his following books -- "The Pelican Brief", which hit number one, and "The Client", which debuted at number one, confirmed Grisham's reputation as the master of the legal thriller.
