SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) -- Bestselling romance novelist
Danielle Steel has wed for the fifth time, tying the knot with
venture capitalist Thomas J. Perkins.
The 50-year-old writer, who has sold some 380 million books
worldwide, wore a pearl and diamond tiara and a sable-trimmed
satin gown at Friday's private ceremony, the San Francisco
Chronicle reported Monday.
Perkins, 65, wore a dark blue suit and "radiated
happiness" as he stood with his new bride under a massive arch
made from hundreds of lavender roses and purple violets, the
paper said.
Steel said last month that her love affair with Perkins
bloomed during a correspondence that served as the inspiration
for her next book, "The Klone and I."
Perkins, who helped found high-tech giants Genentech, Compaq
and Tandem Computers, is also a founding partner in the San
Francisco-based venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield &
Byers.
The couple gave two dinner dances over the weekend to
celebrate their marriage and plan to hold another Tuesday
evening in New York, the Chronicle said.
