Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the West is seeking destruction and a reinforcement of their evil dominance in the region.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the West is seeking destruction and a reinforcement of their evil dominance in the region.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad blamed the West for unrest bubbling throughout the Middle East and North Africa in a speech Monday on Iran's National Army Day.

"They are trying to foment discord in the region. They are trying to cause destruction and provoke wars between nations and governments in order to sell their weapons," Ahmadinejad said in a speech translated into English by state-run Press TV. "They are seeking destruction and a reinforcement of their evil dominance in the region."

The Iranian president's accusations come as NATO planes are enforcing a U.N.-approved no-fly zone over Libya and also are launching airstrikes on Libyan government troops as opposition forces battle them.

Ahmadinejad also warned of what he said are Western efforts to trigger sectarian strife between Shia and Sunni Muslims, while calling for cooperation between nations in the region.

Unrest has spread across parts of the Middle East and North Africa since January when popular uprisings began in Tunisia and Egypt, which eventually unseated the governments there. The political unease has spread in varying degrees to more than a dozen other nations.

The statement by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad blaming the West for unrest bubbling in Middle East and North Africa is food for thought and critical analysis. The problem obtaining in the Arad World should be blamed on power hungry leaders in that region who had allowed their contries to be used as launch pads to attach each other. The West has been smart and used divide and rule tactics to cause instability in the middle east and north africa. For as long arabs dont trust each other they will always be used for for economical and geopolitics by the West lead by USA. How can super powers in the name of USA, UK and France combine military forces to attack Libya. The so called Rebels will end in a situation like in Afighanstan. The Americans never learn to them War is BIG BUSINESS. USA is the top country on earth which haS FOUGHT WARS WITH OTHER COUNTRIES. arab world should WAKE to reality and Stop being used to fight and kill each other. Open Your eyes.

shias and sunni unite for islam, west is at its game again, do not fall a prey to their game plan

Get real   April 20th, 2011 3:59 am ET

Chips Ku – You must be joking. All evils in the world are west's fault and everyone else is just a stupid drone. These people have been killing each other long before there was a west. Arabs/muslims have unrest everywhere they go, check any country in the world. Shia and sunnis have been killing each other since the start. I have seen Sunnis chase shias down the street during Moharrum and stab the guy with a knife, this was in a small town in India in 1971....but that must have been the Hindus fomenting issues between the muslims brothers. WAKE UP and put the blame where it belongs, with themselves. Iran says that because they suppress their own people. One Shia man from Iran in Canada told me that he is atheist but neither him or none of his friend in Iran could claim that or else they be dead. If Islam allowed freedom, many muslims would leave Islam and they are only there because of threat.

John A   April 20th, 2011 7:53 am ET

Chips Ku, they are starting to open their eyes. Saudi Arabia now slashes oil production in way of giving America the big middle finger. They have also approached China and Russia for assistance. They prepare to distance themselves from the USA.

Trouble is, the Saudi Royal family are even more slimy than Zionist Israelis. It would be great if middle east people could be left alone to manage their own affairs, but oil wont let that happen.

You know many uneducated people like to use the "phrase conspiracy theory"? What would they say about this:

Secret memos expose link between oil firms and invasion of Iraq

John A   April 20th, 2011 7:55 am ET

p.s. in ten years another secret memo will probably expose the lies about Libya

No statement by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is food for thought and critical analysis. The problem is that he is stark mad and should be put away in an institution.

TRUE VIEW   April 21st, 2011 4:26 pm ET

Chip & Get Real, actually, you're both close to the REAL sources of the upheavals in the M.E. these upheavals are really nothing new...go back MUCH further than merely the founding of Mohammadism / Muslim faith.

And, yes, the west IS culpable for meddling, manipulating, and fraudulently exploiting that entire region.

But, truth be told, it truly is 6 of one, and half a dozen of the other...and then to mix in the VERY ANCIENT rivalry between Arabs and Hebrews! Whew! Then you've REALLY got a volatile mixture that's BOUND to erupt periodically! historically!

The Hebrews and Arabs are half brothers! Esau founded the original 12 Arab tribes, and Ysra'el sired the original 12 Hebrew tribes! And, further more, this conflict has NEVER found a balanced solution, and, VERY LIKELY will not until one side or the other FINALLY utterly annihilates the other. the core problem (for the West), is the NEED of Oil...(AND, the corrupt Corporate interests that thrive on it's production), which has led the Western Nations, (ALL are guilty to a degree, including Russia), to meddle, manipulate, and exploit the region! So, the best thing the West can do is admit that the region is, and ALWAYS WILL REMAIN volatile and unstable, and anti-ANYBODY who isn't either a Muslim, or a Jew - (though, the Jews ARE more adept at "putting on their friendly smile - while they take you for whatever you're worth). The Arabs/Muslims are a BIT, (not too much), more honest!

The "odd man out" in this entire scenario, is (ancient Persian), now Iran! Amadinijad is simply running his own version of the old "the hand is quicker than the eye", shell game.

Frankly, Iran is TRULY the most DANGEROUS of them all, as they GENUINELY have the capabilities to not only take control of the M.E., but, as well, to foist a GRAND WAR on the entire non-Muslim world!

And, I'm beginning to suspect it's true that that is EXACTLY what Amadinijad's "handlers" want! (BTW...his "handlers" are NOT Muslim)...

Iran is run by the cleric coucel. The president is only ranked numer 7.

Prof Bernard Lewis the number 1 worldwide expert on Islam.
He warned of the:

Iranian leaders, in their speeches claim:

“The apocalyptic time has come
.“Ma’adi” the Muslim messiah is already here”

The good can go enjoy the delights of paradise and the wicked,

Your blog name says enough about your lack of maturity.

Only a prepubescent losers like you could claim that an alternative view to the White house's must be wrong.

Its amazing really. Nobody in America is impressed with the dealing of the White house. But if a foreigner claims Washington is the problem, you immature yanks will make retarded comments and not listen to any criticism.

Well guess what? Its not just the Arabs who think Americans and their Zionist puppet masters are the problem. South America, Asia and Europe also view America and their Zionist puppet masters as the problem.

With only a 40% approval rating from the American people for Obama, you may find many Americans are not so different from the rest of the world. i.e. Its clear to most people that Washington is the worlds biggest problem.

Bahraini Woman   April 22nd, 2011 9:18 am ET

To the proud Zionist,
This mans biggest dream is to make your country disappear.
What's even a bigger issue is that there are under the table deals between him and the US over troops in Iraq. It seems his is the only one who can ALLOW their troops leave, if he keeps the peace there.
For that, they have to PAY...

Wake up world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before israel becomes history....

Get real You must have not read the verse in the Quran, saying " there is no compulsion in religion". This is the problem with people in the west, they have no idea what islam is except for their biased media. If they used their logic and put togeather the historical and scientific accuracies of there Quran, they will realize this could not be a man made book because of those accuracies 1400 years ago. If you knew real islam you would be joining in on the fastest growing religion in the world.

Thank you, ignorance needs to be fought man.

Zachary   April 23rd, 2011 1:56 am ET

Ahmadinejad is right, it is the west's fault. Pin it all on President Bush who said the same thing, by spreading democracy in the Middle East. The media should report on this. Bush said this time and again, I'm sure there is some archived media footage of a press conference of him stating the above.

I say it's President Bush's fault for all the unrest in the Middle East. He stood by his priciples through resolve and stood by the American priciples of Freedom and Democracy and now the Arab people have gotten a taste and are ready to order the entire meal!

John   April 23rd, 2011 9:32 am ET

The CIA / Mossad tried to impose American style of democracy and Freedom in Iran during Shah Reza phazlvi dynasty rule in Iran from 1953 – 1979.The CIA/mossad knew very well that they cannot implement western style of democracy and freedom in Iran unless the Communism in Russia comes to an end. before 1953 the Iran was ruled by democraticaly elected Socialist democratic party led by Dr.Mossedegh. The CIA/ Mossad over thrown the Dr.Mossedegh government in Iran by operation AJAX at 1953.The U.S cannot leave Iran to socialist democrats who were more stable .So CIA /Mossad implanted worst unstable government in Iran led by fundamentalist Rohullah Kommenie at 1979. Then only U.S can very easily take over the Iran by force after the fall of communism in Russia. Now Zionist were shouting with their big mouth through U.S politicians that Iran have human rights violations, but American were very Intellegent ,every U.S citizens are asking U.S state department about U.S support to Tyranny in Saudi Arabia. There fore U.S cannot invade Iran untill western style of democracy and freedom is fully implemented and established all over in Saudi Arabia!!!

The person responsible is the Fascist Assad, not the West, would someone please inform Iran's dictator.

love Israel...xx

miriam   April 26th, 2011 2:16 pm ET

John A,

Fortunately, US citizens can protest and vote for change if they don't agree with Washington.

The same can be said for other Western countries, including Israel, where democracy is strong and dissent is widespread.

The same cannot be said for Iran, Syria etc and increasingly South America, parts of Asia and even regions of Europe.

And then there is the Internet, which if accessible, can be a portal for the dissemination of all kinds of information, and disinformation.

FRANK OLIVER   April 26th, 2011 5:49 pm ET

The Most Americans U.S Abandoned the socialism in late 1970's .Most of the Iranians disliked that. This is the key factor of 1979 Iran revolution.

acidmike   April 26th, 2011 10:28 pm ET

People need to really take Ahmadinejad seriously, there is much truth in what he says. Americans are predisposed to hating Iranians but Iranians have every right to hate Americans. The revolution and the hostage situation was the DIRECT RESULT of the USA sticking it's nose where it didn't belong and supporting the Shah's puppet government. The post-revolution treatment of Iran by the USA is a crime. The whole Contra thing, the attacking their naval fleet and SHOOTING DOWN A PASSENGER AIRCRAFT.

Ahmadinejad is sympathetic for US citizens because he knows that our government's interest are not in its people. Persians make up 1.5 million of our citizens, not a whole lot but not a small amount either.

Iran has powerful allies including Russian, China, Brazil, France, and Germany. They have good relations with most of the world including other potential superpowers like India. That's the majority of the world's superpower collective minus the United States and some European Union countries. The US is ignorant to continue blind support – military and financially – to Israel. Israel started this whole mess. Get rid of AIPAC, the ADL, and the FPI(PNAC) and remove the Zionist and Zionist-friendly Nonconservative from Washington and media outlets they influence and spend millions on like NTY. Then cut off all ties to Israel. ALL ties. Call them out in the UN and force nuclear inspections and external humanitarian evaluations of their treatment to Palestinians. Force them to trial for their war crimes and violations of international law. Apologize to Iran and give them reparations for causing great harm to their nation in the past 30+ years.

That's a pipe dream, I know, but I pray I live to see it happen. Ahmadinejad is not the only leader who has said these things, it's just the others who have come forward to say it have all been silenced.

proud zionist   May 2nd, 2011 8:46 pm ET

yeah, let's take the madman from Teheran seriously. After all, he just condemned the killing of Osama bin Laden.

ricky   May 6th, 2011 4:46 am ET

It is in my opinion that ISLAM & DEMOCRACY don't mix. Especially in the Middle East, where dictatorship is the common form of government. The rulers of these countries uses the imams to subdue free thinking. Democracy is openness to all kinds of thinking whether critical to traditional values or in favor of it. Challenging old beliefs with new ideas.
Just look at the difference of Muslim women raised in the Middle east & those born&raised in the West. Both studied the same Quran but have different opinions on women's role in society.

It true, it was on TV   May 6th, 2011 7:22 pm ET

Proud Zionist the madness is to believe Osama was alive on the 30th April 2011.

Are you working for Obama's feeble election campaign?

proud zionist   May 8th, 2011 12:59 pm ET

yeah right, and Al Queida's announcement that Osame was killed was only Zionist propaganda, right you silly nitwit?
