Pope Benedict XVI presides over the last day of the synod of bishops from the Middle East at the Vatican(OSSERVATORE ROMANO/AFP/Getty Images).

A two-week conference of Catholic bishops to discuss the situation of Christians in the Middle East has stirred some controversy.

At the conclusion of the Vatican gathering, called a synod in church terminology,  bishops released a communique Saturday that among other things called for the international community "to put an end to the occupation"  and an exhortation that the bible should not be used by Israel as a pretext to justify injustices.

The communique and remarks in a closing press conference by Archbishop Cyril Salim Bustros brought charges of "libel" from Israel's deputy foreign minister Danny Ayalaon on Sunday and a spokesman for the Israeli foreign ministry, Yigal Palmor, said the bishops were "committing a sin towards the truth"  by ignoring the fact  that "Israel is the one  country in the region that is welcoming to Christians"

Palmor cited statistics showing the Christian population in Israel had been growing steadily throughout the years due to natural growth and immigration. He said that Christians face pressure in many countries in the Middle East because of Islamic law and  Muslim extremism, but that Israel was not one of them.

Rabbi David Rosen who serves as the director of interreligious affairs for the American Jewish committee and spoke before the synod as special guest earlier in the month called the omissions of  the conference's  final statement "appalling".

"...the bishops did not have the courage to address challenges of intolerance and extremism in the Muslim countries in which they reside, and rather chose to make the Israeli-Palestinian conflict their first focus" Rosen said in a statement.

For its part the Palestinian Authority welcomed the conclusions from the Vatican gathering.

"Israel cannot use the biblical concept of a promised land or chosen people to justify new settlements in Jerusalem or Israeli territorial claims," Saeb Erakat, a spokesman for Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and a chief Palestinian negotiator, said in a statement Sunday.

Erakat said the synod sent "a clear a message to the government of Israel that it may not claim that Jerusalem is an exclusively Israeli city."

"(In) coming weeks we will engage in discussions with the Vatican on ways to further consolidate our fantastic relations," Erakat said. "

Israel loves Christians, as long as they are rich and white – but will be happy to kill them if they are Palestinians, from Gaza.

Kevin Walsh   October 25th, 2010 9:35 am ET

The bishops criticised use of the Bible to justify the Jewish presence in the occupied territories, saying that "recourse to theological and biblical positions which use the word of God to wrongly justify injustices is not acceptable".
This may not be directed at Israel but rather at Christian Zionists who are funding some settlements to trigger 'rapture'.

John A   October 25th, 2010 11:06 am ET

Don't you love the Israeli answer.

It's as if they think any country viewed to be more evolved has the right to occupy those which are viewed to be less evolved.

And obviously Israel thinks it is the judge of who is evolved an and who isn't.

Lets face it, Israel hates almost everyone apart from the easily bought and corrupt US politicians.

It is well known that the first established church fell into perdition , she is not the church or the mouthpiece of Christ , whenever she speaks she speak blasphemies. what of the Christians who are been persecuted in the Muslim countries, who are fleeing their home lands by the tens of thousands because of fear of been beheaded , are these bishops sleeping or they fear for their own lives. Israel is blessed naturally and has become the envy of many. He that bless Israel is blessed and he that curse Israel is cursed. In my brothers (Jews) darkest history in Europe where was the church. I do not except the church to stand by Israel in these crucial hour, she will show her true nature.

Take a good look at the photo that accompanies this story.Take a good look at all your so called god fearing institutions.Did Jesus, or whatever name you wish to use, act like this!.Did he go about killing children and grown ups?.Did he not come in peace and heal the sick, feed the hungry and share love and understanding?Yes he did.He even gave of his own life for the sins of man,but yet yous all throw it in his face claiming ownership of his gifts GIVEN TO ALL By your deeds.Shame upon you all for you are not in his likeness, but that of the serpent. The raft of God shall bear no mercy upon your soles, yous all shall be a long time dead unless your ears and eyes seek the truth , your place upon this earth.Your pride your selfish deeds are written in the book of evil.An evil man only seeks rebellion.Evil shall not depart from your houses , the children are Gods looking glass upon your sins.

issie irgun   October 25th, 2010 12:20 pm ET

the church's anti semitism is well documented and know. The comments by these bishops just follow in that tradition. the Church remains bitter to the fact that Jews are the Chosen People and that their concepts of replacement theory are just bunk that no one accpets. So we get a church full of pedophiles and miscreants parading around their Jew hating credentials.

How pathetic that in any muslim country catholics are forbidden to practice their reltigion adn these fools defend that. In Israel where catholics have freedon of religion and the freedom to wrship, we get anti semitism. What would Jesus do ... puke on the bishops and their hate.

All religions throughout the world where born by the footprint of the lord.yet you stain them with you deceptions and lies, yous all kneel before him in division claiming to be greater than the next. Hippocrates of folly you stain the cloth with blood of children and the righteousness of the wicked.

If the population of Christians is growing in Israel, this is a great reason for joy and promise...providing the growth is among the ancient Christian communities of the Greek, Syrian, Maronite and Armenian Orthodox, the Roman and Byzantine Rite Catholics, and the tiny Anglican community., But, if the growth in Christians is due to immigration by these nutjob fundamentalist/Pentecostolist Christians groups such as Sarah Palin and Kristine O'Donnell belong to, then it is a disaster and something to be supressed and discouraged. They belive in something called "the Rapture", repudiate the Theory of Evolution"...believing that men and dinosaurs walked the earth together only 7,000 years ago (a la "The Flintstones"), and pursue an aggressive "in your face" brand of Christianity which is bizarre and unacceptable in any progressive democratic nation.
I hope the ancient Christian communties are growing , but the right-wing USA style bible-thumpers should be expelled from Israel.

Ian   October 25th, 2010 12:47 pm ET

This is consistent with the Church's behaviour for the past 1800 years, killing Jews and Muslims in the name of their perspective on God. Does that same Church use biblical justification for its city-state in Rome? Oh yes, that was a pact with that champion of human rights, Mussolini. Perhaps the Church should clean up its own act, before criticizing the practices of other faiths and other jurisdictions.

Ian   October 25th, 2010 12:49 pm ET

Kevin, if indeed that were the case, I'm with them. Whenever I go to Israel (which is often), I'm besieged by Evangelical Christians who beg me to move to Israel....and then die, thus heralding the second coming. They infuriate me.

This apostate group of mortal men have the nerve to tell Israel what to do with land that God gave to the descendents of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Ron Edge   October 25th, 2010 1:44 pm ET

Idiots. Wait and see what happens to your "fantastic relations" with the Muslims if Israel goes down.

As for Mr. Walsh: What do you think the Muslims are (and will) use to justify their genocide of Jews, Christians, etc? The Quran, of course, which refers to you....... yes! YOU, Mr. Walsh....... as a "pig", worthy to only be destroyed as "unclean". About the only thing it doesn't call you is an "Idiot", but I'll take care of that.

Jakub Capek   October 25th, 2010 1:45 pm ET

I agree with the synod. The Israelites have made too many mistakes in their fight against terrorism. In keeping the Palestines behind high walls and building new settlements on land which was not theirs is not the way to come to a cease fire arrangement. Arrogance will get them nowhere.

miriam   October 25th, 2010 4:21 pm ET

un2here,

You are confused.

It is Hamas who is killing and abusing Christians in Gaza.
And for that matter, the PA who is responsible for the disappearance of the Bethlehem Christian community.

Successionist and replacement theology was discredited long ago. It's resurrection is due to the false liberation theology of the Middle East Council of Churches who decided that after years of dhimmitude under Muslim rule, their only hope for better acceptance was to create a gap between themselves and their fellow dhimmis, the Jews.

Let's hope that the Pope produces a papal document summarizing the synod that addresses the real purpose of the meeting, the problem of depleting Christian communities in the Middle East. Israel should then be singled out for praise as the only country in the region with a growing Christian population which has resulted in the creation of a Hebrew-language Vatican web-site.

If not, the Vatican has been hijacked by the Arab, political, false narrative and propaganda, contradicting its own Synod message and has effectively surrendered to Islamic aims at world domination.

NOT A PARODY- UNFORTUNATELY IT IS THE REALITY!!
Justice and Unjustice – Christian tradition treatment of Jews.

Justice is:Destroying the independent Israel by the Roams because they want to keep their freedom and religion.
Justice is; Enslaving and deporting many Jews from the ancient Israel.
Justice is; Chasing and killing Jews that didn’t accept to convert to Christianity .
Justice is: Imposing limitation on professions Jews may practice.
Justice is : The mass murderous Crusades.
Justice is: The Inquisitions.
Justice is: The Ghettos all over Europe.
Justice is; Expelling of Jews several times from many European countries.
Justice is: Pogroms killing Jews from England up Russia.
Justice is: The Papal silence during the holocaust.
Justice is: Arresting the Jew survivals from the Nazi extermination caps and cousing tham in concentration camps in Cyprus by UK.
Justice is:THE CHRISTIANS HAVE PROBLEMS THEY CANNOT SOLVE?
SOLUTION: BLAME THE JEWS.
--

Unjustice is: The renew of Israel independence Jin their homeland of the 3500 years continuous – one culture- one religion- one nation.
(all the Christian and Muslim countries don’t have such a record)

They should continue to benefit from Christian and Muslims well proven good will!!
-

Justice is: THE CHRISTIANS HAVE PROBLEMS THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO SOLVE WITH ISLAM?
Lets go back to the old tradition:
BLAME THE JEWS.

--

The Christians elite analyzed the rezones that lead to many crimes, and are in a process of corrections by laws and teaching.
Unfortunately there are some Christians that are still locked in the old tradition:
A solution for all our problems is:Blame the Jews

I FOUND THESE TRUTHFUL WORDS ON ANOTHER ARTICLE:
Asked to clarify what this passage meant, Archbishop Bustros responded that Christians cannot speak of a specific "promised land," because Jesus Christ had come to establish the Kingdom of God in the world and to make all who follow him his "chosen ones."
That means, Archbishop Bustros explained, that the idea of the "the promised land cannot be used as a base for the justification of the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of Palestinians." He added: "Sacred Scripture should not be used to justify the occupation by Israel of Palestine.”
Archibishop Bustros IS THE MAN!!!

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3974911,00.html

Moll   October 26th, 2010 1:01 am ET

Cyril Salim Bustros, the Lebanon-born Greek archbishop of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Boston, Massachusetts was responsible for delivering the final statement of the Catholic Synod called at the Vatican, in which he declared that the original promises made by God to the children of Israel “were nullified by Christ. There is no longer a chosen people.”

This is where the road ends when theologians rewrite God's promises replacing themselves as "the chosen" in the tenants of Replacement Theology. Now the observant world knows everything we need to know about where, in the Kingdom of God, this particular form of the universal church within christianity stands! Ask yourself, where does your particular "denomination" stand on this issue.

If the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob does NOT keep His promises He made to the "children of Israel", then any promises christians are depending upon for their salvation is in doubt! That is, christians cannot rely on their promises of eternal life if they accept the universal church definition of who Jesus Christ is. If original promises made by God to the children of Israel were nullified by Christ, as the archbishop says, then the universal church's Jesus Christ is obviously a false saviour. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob proclaimed in both the Hebrew and Christian bibles that He changes Not (Malachi 3:6), and that He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). That same God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, made those promises, to Abraham, and He made those promises again in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

So, choose you this day, to believe or disbelieve, that the original promises made by the God of Israel to the children of Israel “were nullified by Christ. There is no longer a chosen people.”

May God have mercy upon the spirit and soul and body of Cyril Salim Bustros and forgive him - for he knows not what the consequences of his "damning" words have sealed.

What to do about this information? Send the Archbishop e-mails.

Remind him that his salvation depends upon the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob keeping the promises He made to the seed of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob.

Remind him also, that replacing what the scriptures say with his theology, does not change one jot or tittle of what God caused/inspired to be written down.

Joshua   October 26th, 2010 5:50 am ET

When the Palestinians, Muslims, and Catholic leaders accept a Jewish national presence on Earth and in the Middle East, and when the acknowledge the historic ties of the Jews to the land of Israel, then their might be a chance for peace. Until then, the world should know that the nation of the Jews now has an army and we will defend ourselves from those who hate and seek to destroy us.

John A   October 26th, 2010 1:57 pm ET

Joshua,

Keep up the paranoia . But you do realize that Israel occupies and kills its neighbors. And when the neighbors resist you call it terrorism.

How twisted can your paranoia get?

The holocaust of the 1940s is long long time ago. And even in this time more Russians died than Jews. So you are not unique, all groups have suffered at some time in history. But Israel does uniquely use any ancient suffering as an excuse to cause more suffering to others.

John A   October 26th, 2010 2:01 pm ET

PS Joshua,

America can give you all the advanced weapons you like, but Israel has constantly proven itself to be cowardly and only attacks the defenseless.

So don't get to carried away with your national pride. Possibly the Jewish tribes were scattered because you have never had the guts to fight anyone who is equally armed? Just a thought....

Jacob   October 26th, 2010 2:14 pm ET

Um I think Israel actually just wants a country where it's people were brutally raped and murdered into population suicide by the invading Arabs and then Turks.

You guys obviously aren't historians.

Israel has more right to Israel than the United States does to America.

Also all the brown people (I'm brown)..was it a white run school who taught you to hate whites so much? That's what's so funny all these people use the education that the Great Satan gave them to denounce the Great Satan?

Nah..Satan doesn't work that way. America is obviously something that does net good in the world. It shows a lot about us that we developed all this technology that people like the Chinese steal and then try to tell us about our failed society.

Bizarro world!

One would expect the Vatican to be honest and forthright in revealing the pedophilic activities, it has been hiding under the carpet. And to come clean on this heinous crime of pedophilia it has been continuously and consistently involved in! well one cannot expect that with a pope who is a ex-Nazi can we :)

Alex   October 26th, 2010 7:47 pm ET

Ok so i get it. Any critic to Israel is anti semtisim, what a load of garbage you americans are blind to the truth. Is What the Vatican is saying that Israel SHOULD NOT USE THE BIBLE as an EXCUSE for their massacre of the palestinian people. The Israeli-Arab conflict is a long and complicated one and not one side is innocent or guilty. Israel has far more military strength, made possible by your politicians of course, it should not hide its imperialistic goals behind the bible.

I was watching CBS describe the new wave of poverty in America.

Stupid Americans thought God would praise them for supporting Israel. But now God punishes the stupidity of America with a financial crises which will last for a generation.

Stupid America will never recover from this financial melt down because stupid America gives all its money to false wars and illegal Jewish settlers.

Stupid America, its taken some time, but now you are receiving what you deserve.

I still remember how i choked up after i read the articles about hollocaust and saw some pictures that enclosed. I asked Lord Jesus how could He let people kill each other like that? why didn't He command one of His angels to slap their leader just the he did to Nebukadnezar? so. the genocide never written in the history of Earth. so, for the israel, you know how miserable life was when they chased you, or your ancestor just to be killed. wht are you doing the same thing to the Palestines? can we find another way to solve the conflict without using weapons or killing humans? please don't let the same story ever happen again.

un2here   October 27th, 2010 6:43 am ET

miriam, look in the mirror:

By willfully failing to criticize Israel’s oppressive policies in the occupied territories, Christian Zionists are contributing to the disappearance of Palestinian Christians, who are migrating in droves. Ironically, the Zionist worldview adhered to in thousands of American churches and in numerous offices on Capitol Hill threatens Palestinian Christians in a way that a Hamas-dominated parliament does not. By not only discouraging criticism of Israel’s immoral and illegal policies but even encouraging them, Christian Zionists contribute to the suffocating grip in which Palestinian Christians — and their Muslim neighbors — find themselves.

Myriam   October 27th, 2010 7:39 am ET

The Church has realized the danges of the Middle East.

If things don't change in the near future, there will be no hope for us Christians here. We will leave the region.

Cohabition is becoming more and more difficult due to emerging extremism.

It's a case of Action Reaction.

It's a war that is fueling more and more hate and we are stuck in the middle and we will soon become the victims.

My heart bleeds for Lebanon. It's a beautiful country, it's my beautiful country. I would hate seeing it lose its identity. But that is already in progress.

In the hope of stopping the growing hate, that ticking bomb... The church is calling out for a solution.

Soon it WILL be too late. and No one will emerge a winner.

miriam   October 28th, 2010 12:26 pm ET

un2here,

The decline in the Christian population in the ME has little to do with Israel, apart from the fact that the Arabs have continually chosen war and aggression against the Jewish state making the lives of anyone willing to stick it out in the region, a challenge.

Suppression of the communities in Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and Jordan, not to mention Hamas-run Gaza and PA-run areas of the WB are due to their own governments' policies.

It is convenient, fashionable and "safe" to blame Israel for every problem in the Arab world and beyond, however it is baseless, cynical, hypocritical and clearly anti-semitic, judging from the ignorant comments above.

Israeli Officials have recently declared Apartheid Israel is a Theocracy of the Jewish people. That's fine but that places Christians in Israel along with Arabic people of other religions including Islam as second class citizens in that tiny nation.

Sure Israel still wants Christian's tourist dollars but what about running the government huh?

Reason   October 31st, 2010 6:14 am ET

First and foremost, I am NOT a fan of the State of Israel and especially not it's policies of apartheid towards the Palestinians. That said, the Catholic Church is the LAST organization on God's green earth that should criticize or pass judgment on anyone. It's history then and now speaks for itself.

Also, criticizing Israel is NOT antisemitic! Israel is a STATE, and as such, is open to criticism for it's practices and policies. It is ridiculous how many times I read charges of antisemitism every time Israel gets criticized.

To "its true, it was on tv": America may be poor b/c America has abondoned God-restoration of righteousness may bring restoration of wealth.
To anti-Semites: What is your major malfunction? Jews may not be the most righteous people on earth, but seriously, I would take them over muslim extremists, fascists, or genocidal crazies anyday. The Jews are a spot of (almost) sanity in a sea of extremism and hatred.
To the Synod: your arrogance will be reviewed at the bema seat. God sends prophets to speak His word. Fortuantely for you he suffers those who think they know better than he does.
To those who think Jewish "aparthied" is cruel and unusual: do you lock your doors at night? Do you have a fence around your yard? Threat defence is based on the severity of the threat. Israel simply maintaining security. If your neighbor leaned over your fence and said, "I'm going to kill you and your family first chance I get", how far would you go to defend you and your family?

miriam   October 31st, 2010 5:41 pm ET

Smith and all the others chanting anti-Israel rhetorical mantras,

Calling Israel apartheid is an offence to the victims of South African apartheid.

In Israel, all residents can travel together on public transport, sit on the same benches and beaches, serve in the same defence forces, shop in the same malls, work together in the same companies, study in the same universities, work and be admitted to the same hospitals etc.
All Israeli citizens can serve in the Knesset, become Supreme Court judges, represent the country in sports and cultural competitions and criticize the state to the point of treason.

In Israel there are no declarations in parliament. Proposals are subject to democratic discussion, vote and appeals.

There was recently afirst reading of a bill proposed to incorporate a citizen's oath for new citizens, like many other countries on this planet which require recognition of the values of that state. Recognizing Israel as the state of the Jewish people has little to do with religion and everything to do with the right to nationhood.

Part of recognizing Israel as the Jewish people's national homeland includes acknowledging the rights of minority populations, be they Christian, Muslim, Arab, Ba'hai, African or any other.

The societies of Israel's neighbours are the ones which resemble apartheid SA, not Israel.

miriam   October 31st, 2010 5:51 pm ET

Yusil,

The answer is quite simple.

The Jews were repeatedly massacred and kicked out of the Holy Land by the various invading empires.

If it wasn't for the attempts at annihilation of the Jews outside the Holy Land, all over Christian Europe and in the Muslim world, the world population of Jews would be greater than it is now.

If Mohammed had failed in his massacre, Jews would still be the majority population in Medina and probably Mecca as well.

This issue is very likely to cause World War 3 and possibly the biggest event in the world in history ..... Again traditionally according to Islamic Texts (Quran) it is a crime that comes with a VERY severe punishment to discriminate and oppress People of the Book (Jews,Christians,Sabians and Muslims) .... Those people who look to demonize Islam and glorify there religion's need to understand that Jihad does NOT mean Holy War and that Freedom of Religion (Including Publicly) for the people of the book is allowed under Islamic Law ... When the Christians pursed a killing crusade against the Jews in Spain , REMEMBER THAT JEWS FLED TO THE MUSLIM OTTOMAN EMPIRE WERE THEY WERE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE THEIR FORM OF RELIGION.

Haris   November 1st, 2010 11:59 pm ET

People's knowledge is very low , Muhammad allowed Jews and Christians religious freedom in Mecca/Medina (and it was Muhammad and his followers who fled from being killed) and came under a aggression by the Pagan and Arab Tribes and then went on a defensive or Jihad/Struggle and captured Mecca and instead of killing and massacring in-justly (Which is against Islamic Law) he actually accepted them as part of a "Truce Constitution" which allowed Jews,Christians and 8 Arabian tribes freedom of religion , then after 10 years Political Corruption led to the expelling of 2 Arabian and Jewish tribes ...... A-lot of Jews left on there own in search of a Jewish land.

Haris,

Mohammed was tolerant of Jews and Christians if they became Moslem. If they resisted, they were killed.

The Koran is quite explicit in its references to Jews and how to listen out to nature revealing their location.

After their massacre and expulsion from Spain, many Jews made their way all over the world. They were welcome in Moslem countries as long as they complied with dhimmitude.

Jews fleeing Mohammed and Arabia, attempted to return to THE Jewish land from where their ancestors had been exiled by the Assyrians, Babylonians and Romans.

! Some commentators claim – Israeli Apartheid?

Definition: Apartheid is a policy that institutionalized separation and differential status of racially defined/

By definition and reality Muslim countries are leading Apartheid countryes.

By definition, despite being for over 80 years under nonstop Arab/Iran destruction treat , Israel is one of the advanced social equality worldwide.

Remember what UK has done with UK citizens of German origin and USA with Americans citizens of Japanese origin on WW2.
Israel doesn’t treat their Arab citizens similar to UK and USA:

In Israel all citizens are:
Equal by low-–Full political rights --– Equal universal Human rights ––religious freedom ––Citizens express freely ––Women equality––Social rights equality––Share equally all public infrastructures.

In Arab countries and Iran- partial list due space limitation:
*Iran- more than 200 gays have been executed
*Iran- Teachers were hanged up because teaching Bahai religion.
*Iran Women low- Virgin women to be executed is raped by a guard ahead execution.
* Christians are being persecuted and are under run.
*Arabs volunteered to Nazi army -approximately 40.000 in Balkan divisions
*Example of Iran policy to non Islamic religions:
* Jordan low of punishing by death the ones sailing land to Jew
** Sudan- tens of thousands of Cristians slaves have been set free after Christian charity organizations played $ to the slave owners.
* Saudi Arabia gender apartheid
*Churches cannot be either build or maintained in almost all Arab countries.
*Syria- Based on the Arab dhimma low Syria imposed -red marked ' Jew" identity cards-word JEW to be displayed on shops-could not obtain driver's license, telephone, sell or buy property-( what historical memories are associated to those lows?)

The Jews had 70 years to return, why haven't they? I believe New York, Berlin, London and Paris are more attractive. What do you think?
I wonder why?

Miriam says, "The Koran is quite explicit in its references to Jews and how to listen out to nature revealing their location.

Mirima, you really are so full of your misguided sense of self importance. But when it comes to knowledge, you prove yourself to be a jacka$$ who has her head stuck where the sun doesn't shine.

The Christians kicked the Jews out of Spain and not the Muslims. The Christians kicked the Jews out of Spain because of their past collusion with the Muslim invaders.

Guess who welcomed the Jews from Spain and allowed them to practice Judaism...Answer: Turkey and the OTTOMANS.

And before you discount all facts as anti semitic cut and pastes(which is really pathetic!!!!) please look at your own virtual Jewish library and learn how the Jews were kicked out of Spain by the Christians.

And for the record, if Israel was in Europe, Asia, Middle East or the USA there would be problems. Why, because the Jewish history has been entirely about attempting to gain power at the expense of the masses. The question is: are all people insane and anti Semitic or do Jewish doctrines teach supremacy, chosen people BS which pisses all its neighbors off? Could it be that the Jewish people have a long history off selling their friends if it could gain a profit. Even American Jewish banks were bank rolling Hitlers armies for profit. So please try to get over yourself and your ridiculous anti semitic claims. Your truely pathetic!!

A Former Israeli Minister of EDUCATION clearly calls and loudly states that ISRAEL IS AN APARTHEID STATE.

Dig that Zionist mud out of your ears, listen to your own minister of education for god's sake!

Israel is an Apartheid State, where non-jew's are treated as second class citizens. Non-Jews are forbidden to even travel or walk on 'Jews Only Roads'. Which is more depraved that 'Black bathrooms out back in the woods' signs in APARTHEID SOUTH AFRICA!

Boycott the Apartheid State of Israel, it's business's, tourism and urge your lawmakers across America to cut off Israel's free American taxpayer dollars in the tune of 3 BILLION dollars a year.

George, Your caps lock key seems to be broken!

miriam   November 5th, 2010 10:46 am ET

John A,

Why would anyone think the Jews were expelled from Spain by the Muslims? The Muslims had already lost their control, something they still haven't got over. The expulsion was due to pure Christian anti-Semitism.

From Spain, Jews went (many via Portugal), to England, Holland, France, The British colonies of North America, Central America, South America, the West Indies, Italy. North Africa, the Holy Land and other areas of the vast Ottoman Empire.

The Jews have never had much issue with the Ottomans, and it is only recently that the Turks have created their own problem with the Jewish state.

Since you seem interested in reading sources of Jewish interest, perhaps you should take some time out to study real Jewish philosophy and understand what being the chosen people really means rather than mistakenly presuming claims to supremacy and domination. Those are age-old myths, resurfacing in today's age of hate.

Your blatant anti-Semitism becomes clearer with each post.

Israelis have made a mess in this world.
The only reason that they can so openly defy the world is because they have friends in high places. But some day this will end and the israelis will learn that they have to respect human life and every human being's right to live in freedom and in peace.
Jerusalem and the holy land belongs to the christians and the muslims as much as it belongs to the jews .

GEORGE ARGIRIOU   November 7th, 2010 7:00 am ET

EI BILLY U DON'T HAVE 2 BELIVE IN ALL THE BIBLE.JUST 2 THE REVELATION.AND TRUST ME IN TIME U WILL BELIVE.I WISH U LUCK AND I HOPE THAT IT WILL NOT B 2 LATE 4 U.

miriam   November 7th, 2010 1:28 pm ET

SY S,

Israel recognizes the importance of Jerusalem to Christianity and Islam.

That is why people of all religions are allowed to pray freely in the city (apart from the Jews who are not permitted ti pray at their most holy site).

It is unfortunate that under Muslim and Christian control of Jerusalem, other religions were restricted or banned from worship at their holy sites.

The same is true today in many places and more than that, there is a deliberate, dishonest attempt to erase the Jewish connection to the places most important to its religion, history and culture.
Quite a foolish move since Jerusalem's importance to Christianity and Islam is derived from its centrality to Judaism.

miriam   November 7th, 2010 1:44 pm ET

Smith,

We've discussed Aloni, her minority, extremist views and her forced resignation from her ministerial position due to infammatory discrimination several decades ago.

It's too bad you continue to quote from such an unpopular, marginalized and false viewpoint!

There are no "Jew-only" roads, although there are roads where Jews are banned.

Non-Jews have all the same rights as Jews,
There are no Population Registration Acts, no Group Areas Acts, no Mixed Marriages and Immorality Acts, no Separate Representation of Voters Acts, no Separate Amenities Acts etc etc.

All citizens sit on the same benches, park and legal, work in the same businesses, teach and study in the same schools, work and are treated in the same hospitals, sit in the same parliament and cabinet.......

However, where are the Jewish communities of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the UAE etc?

DEnied Truth   November 14th, 2010 7:38 pm ET

Nothing the Israelis would say or do ever mean anything until the barbaric occupation of innocent people/land comes to a complete halt – stop killing Palestinians period

Ron Edge   November 22nd, 2010 10:07 am ET

To: DEnied...."
"stop killing Palestinians period". And when they don't stop killing Israelis?
What then, DEnied? The "Promises of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob" are NOT fungibile. Those "promises" are just as potent today as they were when given!!

And you are placing your Salvation in jeopardy, as well as those who (mis)trust in you!!

What is the matter with you?

May God have His Mercy on those who do trust you: you deserve none at all!!

John A   November 24th, 2010 4:47 pm ET

Ron Edge, your mental health has clearly gone over the edge.

Is your invisible friend "the God of the Jews" your only witness to the promise you speak of?

Keep taking the pills and please stop making weird excuses for Israeli murderers
