Simply amazing !!!!!! This goes on nearly every day. But then I invariably hear from all of the pro Arab bloggers supporting the Palestinians that there would be no violence in Palestine or the middle east if the Jews were not there. "It's all because of the Jews and there presence in the land of Israel that they "stole" from the Arabs!!!

Yea right !!!!!!!

That makes about as much sense as Hamas and Fatah killing each other and blaming it on the Israelis!!

If there were no Jews in the middle east the Arabs would still be killing each other !!

CS   April 7th, 2009 2:08 pm ET

Nobody even said anything like that on this blog. This is typical of Carlos trying to argue some issue. It also proves his racist nature, trying to say that all pro Arab people connect Israel to every injustice.

Well, I am pro Arab, and pro Israeli, and pro Christian, so long as the practicers of the faiths at least try to live righteous. Civilians, and everyday folks get caught up in the middle, and that's a shame. It's also a shame that leaders of men rarely act in the best interest of the people they represent.

As for this IRAQ issue of the car bombings, it really is a shame. I don't understand the motive of those who do such thing. If suicide bombings is the only way to get to your enemy, who has his foot upon your neck, that is one thing. I am not the one to lie down in the face of opression, and sympathize with opressed nations. But to kill 50 of your own, just to kill 2 of the enemy (hypothetical) is just silly. Mathematics alone teach us that the bombers will lose, as more of their own are killed by their own hand, than of their enemies. Maybe there's some alterior M.O. that I am unaware of (which very well could be, as I'm in the U.S., and they're right in the thick of it). Maybe they just figure that if their families were all killed off, or maimed, because of an enemy occupation, than they have nothing else to live for, so what the hell, why not take some of the enemy with me...but why your own countrymen/women as well? I just don't get it.

CS   April 7th, 2009 2:12 pm ET

Don't want to be misunderstood. I previously said "I am not the one to lie down in the face of oppression, and sympathize with opressed nations." I should have separated this into two sentances, so as not to come across as if I don't support the opressed, because clearly I do.

And since Carlos wants to discuss Arabs killing eachother, lets take it further. Why do you, and people like you look at Arabs killing eachother the way you do? When white people kill massesof other white people,(which happed alot throughout history, and happens alot today) do you not make such blanket statements about white Christians killing eachother? I guess it only applies to Arabs right?

CS   April 7th, 2009 2:23 pm ET

I mean whith Stalin, Mcveigh, Hitler, Jim Jones, Ireland, The Irish and the English, WWII, and all the other mass killing of Christians and Jews for that matter, at the hands of other Christians, why do you not then, make the same prejudiced statements about these sickos?!

Because you're one yourself. You think the rules don't apply to you, only to Arabs, or other people, but not your kind, there's a special acception to the rule for you eh?

Do you even read the articles at the top of the blog page that you're posting on??????????

Arabs killing Arabs!!!!! No occupation !!!!! Muslims killing Muslims !! Just simply hate between Arabs !!!!

Do you have any recollection of anything you've read in the past?????

How many times have people claimed that there would be peace in the ME-- specifically Israel and Palestine if the Jews were not there ?????

Nothing more than raw BS !!!!!--– And this proves it !!!!!!!!

Why do you want to try to make excuses or justifications for actions like this?????? You're sick!!!-- But I'm a racist because i point out who it is and associate it with a specific society that actually teaches the methods to it's devotees and and praises those who participate as martyrs !!!!!

US Envoy Writes of Israeli Threats
By Barbara Crossette

March 31, 2009
http://www.thenation.com/doc/20090413/crossette/print

In the wake of the accusation by Chas Freeman that his nomination to lead the National Intelligence Council was derailed by an "Israeli lobby," a forthcoming memoir by another distinguished ambassador adds stunning new charges to the debate. The ambassador, John Gunther Dean, writes that over the years he not only came under pressure from pro-Israeli groups and officials in Washington but also was the target of an Israeli-inspired assassination attempt in 1980 in Lebanon, where he had opened links to the Palestine Liberation Organization.

Dean's suspicions that Israeli agents may have also been involved in the mysterious plane crash in 1988 that killed Pakistan's president, General Mohammed Zia ul Haq, led finally to a decision in Washington to declare him mentally unfit, which forced his resignation from the foreign service after a thirty-year career. After he left public service, he was rehabilitated by the State Department, given a distinguished service medal and eventually encouraged to write his memoirs. Now 82, Dean sees the subsequent positive attention he has received as proof that the insanity charge (he calls it Stalinist) was phony, a supposition later confirmed by a former head of the department's medical service.
Dean, whose memoir is titled Danger Zones: A Diplomat's Fight for America's Interests, was American ambassador in Lebanon in August 1980 when a three-car convoy carrying him and his family was attacked near Beirut.

"I was the target of an assassination attempt by terrorists using automatic rifles and antitank weapons that had been made in the United States and shipped to Israel," he wrote. "Weapons financed and given by the United States to Israel were used in an attempt to kill an American diplomat!" After the event, conspiracy theories abounded in the Middle East about who could have planned the attack, and why. Lebanon was a dangerously factionalized country.

The State Department investigated, Dean said, but he was never told what the conclusion was. He wrote that he "worked the telephone for three weeks" and met only official silence in Washington. By then Dean had learned from weapons experts in the United States and Lebanon that the guns and ammunition used in the attack had been given by Israelis to a Christian militia allied with them.

"I know as surely as I know anything that Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, was somehow involved in the attack," Dean wrote, describing how he had been under sharp criticism from Israeli politicians and media for his contacts with Palestinians. "Undoubtedly using a proxy, our ally Israel had tried to kill me."

Dean's memoir, to be published in May for the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training Memoir Series by New Academia Publishing under its Vellum imprint, has been read and approved for publication by the State Department with only very minor changes, none affecting Dean's major points. Its underlying theme is that American diplomacy should be pursued in American interests, not those of another country, however friendly. A Jew whose family fled the Holocaust, Dean resented what he saw as an assumption, including by some in Congress, that he would promote Israel's interests in his ambassadorial work.

Dean, a fluent French speaker who began his long diplomatic career opening American missions in newly independent West African nations in the early 1960s, served later in Vietnam (where he described himself as a "loyal dissenter") and was ambassador in Cambodia (where he carried out the American flag as the Khmer Rouge advanced), Denmark, Lebanon, Thailand (where Chas Freeman was his deputy) and India. He takes credit for averting bloodshed in Laos in the 1970s by negotiating a coalition government shared by communist and noncommunist parties.

He was sometimes a disputatious diplomat not afraid to contradict superiors, and he often took–and still holds–contrarian views. He always believed, for example, that the United States should have attempted to negotiate with the Khmer Rouge rather than let the country be overrun by their brutal horror.

As ambassador in India in the 1980s he supported then-Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's policy of seeking some kind of neutral coalition in Afghanistan that would keep the American- and Pakistani-armed mujahedeen from establishing a fundamentalist Islamic state. For several years after the Soviet withdrawal, India continued to back Najibullah, a thuggish communist security chief whom the retreating Soviet troops left behind. After the mujahedeen moved toward Kabul, Najibullah refused a United Nations offer of safe passage to India. He was slaughtered and left hanging on a lamppost.

It was in the midst of this Soviet endgame in Afghanistan that Dean fell afoul of the State Department for the last time. After the death of General Zia in August 1988, in a plane crash that also killed the American ambassador in Pakistan, Arnold Raphel, Dean was told in New Delhi by high-ranking officials that Mossad was a possible instigator of the accident, in which the plane's pilot and co-pilot were apparently disabled or otherwise lost control. There was also some suspicion that elements of India's Research and Analysis Wing, its equivalent of the CIA, may have played a part. India and Israel were alarmed by Pakistan's work on a nuclear weapon–the "Islamic bomb."

Dean was so concerned about these reports, and the attempt by the State Department to block a full FBI investigation of the crash in Pakistan, that he decided to return to Washington for direct consultations. Instead of the meetings he was promised, he was told his service in India was over. He was sent into virtual house arrest in Switzerland at a home belonging to the family of his French wife, Martine Duphenieux. Six weeks later, he was allowed to return to New Delhi to pack his belongings and return to Washington, where he resigned.

Suddenly his health record was cleared and his security clearance restored. He was presented with the Distinguished Service Award and received a warm letter of praise from Secretary of State George Shultz. "Years later," he wrote in his memoir, "I learned who had ordered the bogus diagnosis of mental incapacity against me. It was the same man who had so effusively praised me once I was gone–George Shultz."

Asked in a telephone conversation last week from his home in Paris why Shultz had done this to him, Dean would say only, "He was forced to."

Carlos. I was talking in general. I was referring to the many incidents that happen accross the world, that's why i put in parenthasis, (HYPOTHETICAL) It's obvious to me that you're an immature little man. Probably little in more ways than one, judging by your Nepoleonite little outbusts. LMAO!!!! You're a joke. I'll leave you to the others, as you are definately a waste of time. All you want to do is make sophmoric little jokes, and try to argue with people. Carlos- "Nor will I attempt to make any excuses for them———— as you attempt to do for the suicide bombers and those who promote acts of random violence against innocent civilians!!!!!!!"
-------------------------------–

Is there a reason why you keep twisting people's words to suit your purpose? I didn't hear anyone making excuses to support suicide bombers- quite the oppposite, CS clearly said he couldn't understand why anyone would do it to their own people. In trying to understand it, maybe you should use a little logic and common sense rather than immediately blaming it on Muslim ideology, which apparantely you are no expert on. Perhaps it has nothing to do with religion and more to do with the desperation, loss of dignity and lack of future propects for these people. Maybe it is because someone wiped out their entire families with a bomb. Maybe its because they have no other alternative and this is their last resort. I can't see suicide as being their preferred method of doing things however I do sympathize with these people for the simple reason that they have become so desperate that they are willing to give up their own lives for a cause they believe in. I obviously disagree with their tactics but maybe it's time for the world to figure it out and remove the reasons they have for doing it. I wish I knew the answer but your theory that it is because they are Arab or Muslim is surely the most racist or bigoted (take you pick) answer anyone could come up with.. If your theory was correct, there would be thousands of these bombings every day around the world. The obvious reason there isn't is because you are full of it Carlos.

the Norwegian Fafo institute which sponsored the 1993 Oslo Framework accords decided to find out how the Palestinians felt about this solution. Its main discovery was that a majority, 53 percent, of Palestinians is against two states.

This figure breaks down into 33 percent, who opt for the annihilation of the state of Israel, whether by political means or force of arms – to be replaced by a single Islamic republic on all parts of the country; and 20 percent, which favors a united Israeli-Palestinian state, to be eventually engulfed by the latter population.

When Hamas members are polled separately, support for two states drops to 21 percent.

In general, Islamic terrorist groups kill more Muslims than anybody else, yet Muslims still support them. It's kinda like a support group for the Ebola virus. It doesn't make sense to most civilized people.

They must kill you if you are an infidel. The definition of infidel seems to change whenever its convenient. An infidel could be a Christian, a Jew, anyone who isn't Muslim, anyone who isn't the right kind of Muslim, a Muslim who doesn't practice Islam the "correct" way, a Shia, a Sunni, or just somebody who pissed you off one day. Commiting the sin of murder against an infidel is the only way they can be guaranteed to get into heaven.

Who could have invented rules like this? God? Keep guessing.

Zionism (israeli faith) and extreme (wahhabi) islamism are two faces of the same coin. they are behind all the problems of the world. just imagine a world without israel and alqaeda. there will be no news.

moderate muslims do not support alqaeda; they suport Hamas because it is a liberation movement that struggles to gain independence from a fierce and heavily armed organization with no moral or ethical basis.

regular american   April 8th, 2009 2:06 pm ET

The israeli occupation is behind the development of islamic extremism. First, islamic terrorism was the product of a long and painful occupation that has lasted for 60 years and which has been backed up by the west for no obvious reason. This has led people to be against the west and its values although israel is not part of the western culture (it is an artificial "state"). Second, the west , especially the US, has tried to protect israel from its arab neighbours by creating and supporting reactionary regimes and dictatorships that thwart their respective populations. This perpetual pressure has created fundamentalism. Third, these reactionary regimes, like egypt and jordan, have invested all their resources in security investment while the education sector is regarded as secondary. This strategy has resulted in illiteracy, ignorance, and poverty. these three elements are the main factors behind islamic terrorism.
The bottom line: israel has created islamic terrorism in the world.
N.B. iSLAMIC TERRORISM IS MAINLY CONNECTED WITH WAHHABISM, WHICH is organizationally manifested as ALQAEDA.

tHE FACT THAT ZIONISTS TRY TO LINK BETWEEN ISLAMIC TERRORISM AND HAMAS IS AN ATTEMPT TO DISTORT FACTS AND FOOL THE AVERAGE WESTERN GUY.
HAMAS REPRESENTS MODERATE ISLAM AT THE IDEOLOGICAL LEVEL AND IT IS A LIBERATION MOVEMENT AT THE POLITICAL LEVEL.

IB Wright,

You can look at it however you desire.

The fact remains-- no other society or religious following on the planet teaches to it's followers that the act act of killing "infidels" through what ever violent means-- including suicide bombings- is a free ticket to paradise !!!!!!!!

That's not my "theory" as you claim-- it's a fact!

Sorry you view that assessment as being bigoted or racist.

And you say -–"Perhaps it has nothing to do with religion"--- what planet are you living on ?????

And you say-–"Maybe its because they have no other alternative" !!!!!

How many excuses do you need to provide for out and out slaughtering of innocent people--- as a result of the religious teaching they have received???

So,"If your theory was correct, there would be thousands of these bombings every day around the world"--

What about the bombing in Baghdad yesterday in a Sunni neighborhood-- 9 dead!

What about the bombing today in Baghdad-- another Sunni neighborhood--– 23 dead !!!!

Sorry it doesn't add up to your expectations of "thousands per day all over the world"--- but there is an obvious pattern there for those who are willing to look at the evidence!!!!!!!

"The israeli occupation is behind the development of islamic extremism. First, islamic terrorism was the product of a long and painful occupation that has lasted for 60 years "

the fact is that Arab terrorism was rampant during wave of anti-Jewish riots in 1920-21 (which was characterized by the brutal murder in Jaffa of the prominent Jewish author Y. Brenner), during the 'Disturbances' of 1929 (which included the massacre of the Jewish community in Hebron), during the Arab Revolt of 1936-39, and in many other recorded incidents of wholesale anti-Jewish Arab violence throughout the pre-state period.

this has nothing to do with the jews or israel. the jews werer there before the muslims.
What is Jihad: The Arabic word Jihad is derived from the root word Jahada (struggle). Jihad has come to mean an offensive war to be waged by Muslims against all non-Muslims to convert them to Islam on the pain of death. Jihad is enjoined on all Muslims by the Quran.

dan perman   April 8th, 2009 3:17 pm ET

muslim tactics:

At the Battle of the Yarmuk (river), between the Muslim Arabs and the Byzantines, the Muslim Arabs were losing the battle in the initial stages. When the victory seemed certain for the Byzantines, the Muslims took recourse to subterfuge, when they realized that victory could not come to them through straight warfare, they used a contingent of women to attack the Byzantine troops who charged at the Byzantine army shrieking and hollering. This contingent was led by Hind Bint Utbah, the wife of Abu Sufyan, who was the chieftain of Mecca. Not used to facing ladies as an adversary, the Byzantines were at a loss to respond and the confused Byzantine generals ordered their troops not to molest the women and to withdraw.

dan perman   April 8th, 2009 3:18 pm ET

Jews have lived in Judea-Samaria (the West Bank) and Gaza Strip continuously for 4000 years since Biblical times and throughout the centuries since then. Jewish sovereignty there spanned 1000 years and those areas were the cradle of Jewish civilization. Many of the most ancient and holy Jewish sites, including the Cave of the Patriarchs (the burial site of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob), are located in these areas. Jewish communities grew in Gaza during the 11th century and other areas, such as Hebron (where Jews lived until they were massacred in 1929), were inhabited by Jews throughout the four hundred years of Ottoman rule and much before. Additional Jewish communities flourished under the British Mandatory administration that replaced the Ottoman Empire in 1918.
The Palestinians often contend that the Jews are foreign colonizers in territory to which they had no previous connection. Indeed, much of the Arab world considers all of Israel – and not just the disputed territories – as a foreign entity in the region. Such claims disregard the continuous ties of the Jewish people with their age-old homeland and the deep bond of the people of Israel to its land, both in biblical and later periods.
These claims also serve to perpetuate the myth that a Palestinian state existed in the area prior to the establishment of the State of Israel. In fact, no independent Arab or Palestinian state ever existed in the area known as Palestine.

dan perman   April 8th, 2009 3:28 pm ET

In 7th century Medina, at the time of the beginnings of Islam, there lived a Jewish population from whom Mohammed learned many practices of his new religion (to pray in the direction of Jerusalem, which was eventually changed to Mecca; dietary laws; the Day of Atonement which was later replaced by the fast of Ramadan). But when Mohammed failed to convince the Jews to accept him as a new Moses, he turned against them. His angry reaction was recorded in the Koran, giving millions of Muslims throughout history divinely based antipathy to the Jews.

The Pact of Umar of 720 was the Muslim legal code which prescribed the treatment of Dhimmis, or non-Muslim monotheists. The Dhimmis were required to acknowledge their subservient position to Muslims – they must not manifest their religion publicly, they must rise from their seats if Muslims wish to sit, avoid riding horses, wear different clothes. During the 11th century, the Caliph Hakim of Egypt ordered Jews to wear balls weighing five pounds around their necks, to commemorate the calf’s head which their ancestors had worshipped. Yemen was the only Muslim country with a Jewish minority, that was never ruled by a European power. In 1679 nearly all Yemenite Jews were expelled from their cities and villages. The synagogue of San’a, the capital, was converted into a mosque which still exists and is called “the Mosque of the Expulsion”). Until their departure from Yemen in 1948, all Jews were compelled to dress like beggars, and Jewish children were forced to convert to Islam when their fathers died.

When the Turks occupied Yemen (1872) they asked an assembly of Muslim leaders to stop Muslim children throwing stones at Jews. The answer was that the practice was an old religious custom called “Ada,” and could not be forbidden.

In 1840 a blood libel in Damascus introduced the myth into the Arab world. Only after international protest were the Jews who survived their tortures released. But the libel became popular among Muslims, who often attacked the Jews (mostly in Egypt and Syria) for drinking Muslim blood. The present Minister of Defense of Syria, Mustafa Tlas, is the author of “The Matza of Zion,” a book in which he documents the blood libel. The pamphlet was published in 1983 (!) and distributed to all delegates at the United Nations

First, it is abad thing to insult prophets and religions. This is a sign of ignorance. However, people who can kill children the way we saw in gazza can do anything. you dont have any moral or ethical background.

Second, I ll give a question that will prove that you don't belong to that land:

That land has never been your land; you stole it from its inhabitants. period.

The israeli occupation is behind the development of islamic extremism. First, islamic terrorism was the product of a long and painful occupation that has lasted for 60 years and which has been backed up by the west for no obvious reason.

So-- it's Israel and the Arab Israeli conflict that is behind the Islamic extremism---like the daily suicide bombings in Baghdad-– Muslims killing Muslims-- Shia killing Sunni!!!!!

Over 70 dead and 150 wounded in the past 4 days-- just in Baghdad!!!!

Have you ever read the Hamas Charter-- fine example of moderate Islamic ideology-- don't think????? Especially the part where they proclaim to wipe Israel off the face of the earth!!!!

Even more friggin' hilarious is the part where you try to blame the the illiteracy and poverty within Jordan and Egypt on the US and Israel !!!!!! What hoot!!!!!!

Where did you get this nonsense?????? did you simply make it up in order that you might post something today-- or did it actually come from some source other than you??? If you're quoting a source-- share it with us-- I'd be in for some more good comic relief!!!

So, if you claim it true-- and "moderate Muslims support Hamas--- the moderate Muslims are supporting terrorists!!!!!!!!!

Imagine that !!!!!!!!

Is that how you want the rest of the world to view the moderate followers of Islam?????

Also-- I bet you never thought about it--– but you being a regular american as you so claim--- you can be put in jail---for a long time if you are found to be providing material support to Hamas!!!!!!!1

Hamas talks about wiping israelis from the map; Israel wipes palestinians from the map on a daily basis. I thas just wiped hundreds of kids, women, and innocent men from the map.
you see the difference?

concerning the artificial "state" definition:
I will have to define israel because it is the only artificial state in the world:
Israel is an artificial "state" because it has been formed as a result of a promise, all its people came from different countries and expelled its inhabitants; it has no specific borders (it expands everyday); it has been formed by a conspiracy in the UN (declared a defacto state because of the pressure of Britain); etc..........................

To prove that it is artificial, ask any israeli about the place where his grandgrand father is buried, and you will have as many answers as the number of the countries of the world.
There are many many arguments that prove the artificial nature of this cancerous spot. I need a year to finish this point.

For Palestinians, and despite the legitimate and understandable anxiety stemming from the rise of fascism in Israel, it is still better to have in Israel a manifestly fascist government pursuing fascist policies than a deceptively “liberal” or “leftist” government pursuing the same criminal policies. Netenyaho is actually an enthusiastic advocate for Judaizing East Jerusalem by checking Arab demographic growth, demolishing Arab homes and denying Jerusalemites their natural rights to build homes to meet natural growth and they talk about building permits.lol.
This brazenly racist policy is known as “narrowing Arab horizons” and its ultimate goal is to force the Arab inhabitants of Al-Qods, or as many of them as possible, to leave the city and emigrate for good.

Netanyahu’s venomous racism is not confined to the Palestinians of the “occupied territories” or the “Shtachem” as the West Bank and Gaza Strip are often referred to in Hebrew.

regular american   April 9th, 2009 10:51 am ET

If such is the character of the premier, one can have a clear idea about his lieutenants and ministers from Avigdor Lieberman, to the gurus of Gush Emunim (the settler movement), who are shamelessly demanding that non-Jews in Israel-Palestine be either exterminated, deported or enslaved as water carriers and wood hewers in the service of the master race!

regular american   April 9th, 2009 10:56 am ET

Netanyahu is not stupid. He realizes that his ideological convictions are too ugly and too fascist to be accepted by the international community, including the US, Israel’s guardian-ally.This is why he is going to mislead the world by blurring and hiding, as much as possible, his government’s fascist nature. He will heavily resort to employing “diversionary tactics” such as “terror,” “Iran,” “anti-Semitism,” and “Hamas” to distract attention away from the fascist and criminal platform of his government. This is typical of zionists and people like calos and dan the liar use the same tactics here too.

The call for good relations with Muslims is a good step
However,to succeed it has to be Matched by Muslim leaders.

If Muslim leaders will implement in their countries:
Women equality,people Multicultural right and not only Islam,protect Human Rights,stop the Hate Teaching in some madreses and schools,stop funding some mosks preaching for Islam worldwide by force;

If Muslims worldwide will stop being silent supporters of Islamism and will ;

If zionists implement:
leaving the country they have colonized for 60 years, setting free 11000 prisoners from jails, stopping the killing of civilians on a daily basis, building walls of shame on a land that belongs to palestinian farmers, expelling families from their homes under the pretext that don't have a permit and giving them to people who come from e.g. Yemen, stopping the building of colonies and dismantling the existing ones, allowing people to return back to their homes where they used to live in 1948, stopping attacks on religions and prophets, introducing their leaders for war crimes, etc......................................, then, and only then, Obama will succeed.

regular american   April 9th, 2009 4:40 pm ET

This public's general ignorance of Zionism, its goals and history, is compounded by the controlled media, which grossly distorts and misinterprets Zionism to make this most un-American philosophy appear to be something familiar and benevolent to Americans. The well-documented bloody history of Zionist terror and ethnic cleansing, something which is well known to all Israelis and Palestinians, is strange and unknown terra incognita to most Americans, primarily due to academic and media censorship.

After the terror attacks of 9/11, which a large body of evidence indicates involved Israeli intelligence agents, and with more than 150,000 Americans engaged in costly and disastrous wars in the Middle East, it is simply no longer sustainable for Americans to remain blissfully ignorant of political Zionism.

regular american   April 9th, 2009 4:43 pm ET

Since you like history like your buddy Dan, I offer you a brief synopsis on zionism.
Zionism, as a political movement, developed with Communism in the late 1800s among the Jewish communities in the western regions of the Russian Empire. In Lithuania, Poland, Byelorussia, and Ukraine, particularly in areas with large Jewish populations, Zionism became a new national religion. From the beginning, the Communist and Zionist movements were closely intertwined.

In the late 1800s, the religious-political ideology of Zionism led Jews in search of a national identity to shun the local language and begin speaking and writing Hebrew, a language which had not been spoken for thousands of years. In the Soviet Union, Jews were considered a national group and Jewish nationality was marked as such in Soviet passports. A Jewish Autonomous Region was even established in the Soviet Union in the area of Birobidjan in 1934 with Yiddish as the official language.

regular american   April 9th, 2009 4:44 pm ET

Although the Russian and Eastern European Jews known as the Ashkenazi are not even Semites, but Slavic and Asiatic converts to Judaism, Zionist zeal led them to misidentify themselves as "Hebrew," when for example, they entered the United States at Ellis Island.

regular american   April 9th, 2009 4:45 pm ET

As Zionists had "reconstituted" the "Hebrew" language, the primary political objective of political Zionism has always been the formation of a purely Jewish state in Palestine, something which has never actually existed in history. The fact that 20th Century Palestine was already inhabited by Palestinians, many of whom are real Semites, descended from the original Jews, Arabs, Greeks, and other races of the Holy Land, was something the Zionists intended to use military force to correct.

regular american   April 9th, 2009 4:46 pm ET

The armed conquest and ethnic cleansing of Palestine was vigorously promoted in the 1930s by Ze'ev (Vladimir) Jabotinsky, one of the most militant of Zionists. Jabotinsky, born in Odessa in 1880, became commander of the Zionist militia known as the Irgun in 1937. Jabotinsky headed the New Zionist Organization (N.Z.O), the Betar youth movement, and the Irgun militia, three extensions of the same extremist movement.

The Jabotinsky ideology maintains that the Jewish people have exclusive rights to all the Land of Israel, which it claims extends from the Nile of Egypt to the Euphrates River in Iraq.

regular american   April 9th, 2009 4:49 pm ET

Americans support Israelis because they do not know them. Although Zionism is probably the most potent force influencing U.S. politics, it is safe to say that it remains a political philosophy woefully misunderstood by the majority of the U.S. population. Although President George W. Bush and his war cabinet are clearly Zionists advancing the Zionist agenda, an agenda which is promoted and supported by nearly every member of Congress, Zionism and its bloody history are subjects which most Americans know virtually nothing about.
While American universities offer courses and degrees in practically every subject imaginable, a college curriculum offering a critical examination of Zionism and its history is not to be found.

'Iran behind Hezbollah bid to strike Egypt targets'

By Haaretz Service and News Agencies

Tags: Terrorism,

Iran was behind the planning of terror attacks against targets in Egypt by Hezbollah operatives, the Egyptian daily Al-Ahram quoted a senior official in Cairo as saying Thursday.

Two employees of an Iranian satellite TV channel planned the attacks, the paper said, which were meant to be carried out simultaneously at a number of locations across the country.

According to Al-Ahram, the code-name for the attacks was mentioned in the last speech delivered by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

The report came after Egypt's attorney general announced Wednesday that 49 agents of the Lebanese militant group had been arrested on suspicion of carrying out hostile operations.

The government statement said that the men were looking to destabilize Egypt's general security.

If zionists implement:
leaving the country they have colonized for 60 years, setting free 11000 prisoners from jails, stopping the killing of civilians on a daily basis, building walls of shame on a land that belongs to palestinian farmers, expelling families from their homes under the pretext that don’t have a permit and giving them to people who come from e.g. Yemen, stopping the building of colonies and dismantling the existing ones, allowing people to return back to their homes where they used to live in 1948, stopping attacks on religions and prophets, introducing their leaders for war crimes, etc……………………………….., then, and only then, Obama will succeed.

Just like the stupid grandparents' grave statement !!!!! That's a classic!!!! That's the one finally did it !!!

Why do you try to hide who you are???? Are you ashamed of who you are??? Or do you feel it best to give the appearance of increased numbers of supporters for a losing cause????

Is there some real significance to the fact that a name has been created for those who follow the ideology of returning to their homeland in Israel??? Every one has a name!!! Even the Arabs who live in the Palestinian Territories claim to be Palestinians ! But even this name was made up-- by the Romans !!! No one really cares about your so called "Zionism" !!!!! Why ????--–

Because Israel exists! It was created by the UN in accordance to international law and all the history books in the entire world combined cannot dispute that as being a fact!!!

Egyptian paper: Nasrallah is an Iranian agent and a Dracula

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1077695.html

"An Egyptian newspaper editor-in-chief on Friday dubbed Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah an "Iranian agent, funeral profiteer, and even Dracula," Army Radio reported.

In an editorial published in the Egyptian daily El Gomhoria on Friday, Ali Ibrahim wrote that "Nasrallah is worse than Israel since he is trying to hurt the livelihood of the same Egyptians who supported him during the Second Lebanon War."

"The Zionists want to annihilate us because we threaten their survival, while you aim to kill us in the name of Islam, God's curse on you," Ibrahim also wrote.

Go Obama-– just sweet talk them and send Hillary -- she can handle it !

A day after US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton downplayed Iran's claim that it had developed new uranium enrichment technology, France expressed its concern over the assertion.

"These are worrying declarations," French Foreign Ministry spokesman Eric Chevallier told reporters. "We need to check the accuracy of the figures ... and for that we'll wait for the International Atomic Energy Agency."

Japanese newspaper Nikkei reported Thursday that several Western intelligence organizations were investigating whether a ship that recently traveled from North Korea to Iran had several dozen tons of enriched uranium hidden in its cargo.

According to the report, the suspected move was seen by some intelligence officials as an effort to hide traces of the highly enriched uranium program to develop nuclear weapons, which the US believes North Korea is secretly pursuing.

According to one Western intelligence source, the ship in question left North Korea last December and traveled through the Indian Ocean. The cargo was then shipped to a location near Teheran.

"The bulk of the [transferred] materials appears to be medium-level enriched uranium," the source said. "It could be further enriched to weapons grade in Iranian facilities."

Western countries fear that there could be some kind of enrichment agreement between North Korea and Iran.

'Nasrallah wants to turn Egypt into Lebanon'

By Haaretz Service and News Agencies

Hezbollah agents have infiltrated Egypt in an attempt to stir unrest and turn the country into a base from which to advance Iranian interests, an Egyptian source told the pan-Arab newspaper Asharq al-Awsat on Saturday.

The source said Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah is seeking to foment instability in Egypt on Tehran's behalf so as to divert international attention away from Iran's nuclear program.

"He wants to turn Egypt into a playground like Lebanon," the source told the newspaper.

At least nine people have been killed and 31 wounded in a suicide bomb attack on a security post in Iraq, police say.

The men were killed in Iskandariya, 40km south of the Iraqi capital, while queuing to collect their wages on Saturday.

Muthana Khalid, an Iraqi police spokesman, said the bomber mingled into a crowd of about 250 people and blew himself up.

Ali al-Zahawi, the head of Iskandariya police, said: "The Sahwa men were preparing to enter the military post to receive their salaries when a suicide bomber managed to blow himself up among them, killing nine of them."

EU Poll Names Israel Greatest Threat to World Peace

Großansicht des Bildes mit der Bildunterschrift: Most EU citizens polled consider Israel a threat to world peace.Israel has expressed outrage over an EU poll that said most of the union's citizens see the country as the greatest threat to world peace. The European Commission has distanced itself from the survey.

Senior Israeli leaders have condemned the Eurobarometer poll released on Monday that suggested that 59 percent of EU citizens see Israel as a bigger menace to the world than Iran, Iraq or North Korea.

"We are not only sad but outraged. Not at European citizens but at those who are responsible for forming public opinion," Israel's mission to the EU said in a statement.

Israel's minister for Diaspora affairs, Natan Sharansky, said the poll showed that "behind the 'political' criticism of Israel lies nothing but anti-Semitism."

Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom was more moderate in his criticism, saying that the poll results reflected the greater press coverage that Israel receives in comparison to Iran or North Korea. While he asserted that the poll was "conducted in an irresponsible manner and distorts reality," he said it did not prove that Europeans were anti-Semites.

It may not have been apparent on the surface, but Europe's recent commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz was steeped in irony. Even while the Old World stirringly recalls the horrors of Hitler's death camps and vows never to forget the Nazi genocide of the Jews, it also embraces an increasingly - and alarmingly - antagonistic attitude toward the Jewish state that arose from the ashes of World War II.

As the Middle East conflict burns on, more and more Europeans are turning against Israel. A growing number subscribe to the belief that the impasse between the Israelis and the Palestinians is the wellspring of much of the world's ills today, and that the blame for all this lies squarely with Israel - and by extension, with its staunchest ally, the United States.

Newspapers publish fuller recollections of what happened during the 22-day offensive, including the killings of an elderly woman and a mother and her two children.

By Richard Boudreaux – LAT

Israelis on Friday got a fuller dose of rank-and-file angst over their army's winter assault on the Gaza Strip, as newspapers elaborated on allegations that commanders created a permissive attitude toward the killing of civilians.

Soldiers' accounts of two killings of women and children appeared Thursday in Haaretz and Maariv. Both papers followed up Friday with lengthy excerpts of the soldiers’ comments about confusion and doubt over the rules of engagement during the 22-day offensive, which left an estimated 1,400 Palestinians dead.

The accounts came from a Feb. 13 discussion at a military preparatory academy. The school's director, Danny Zamir, who led the discussion, disclosed the transcript this week. Here are recollections of Aviv, a squad commander in the elite Givati Brigade, other Givati soldiers and an air force pilot. The transcript didn't use their full names.

AVIV: Toward the end of the operation, there was a plan to go into a very densely populated area inside Gaza City. In the briefings, they started to talk about orders for opening fire inside the city, because as you know they used a huge amount of firepower and killed a huge number of people along the way, so that we wouldn't get hurt and [Hamas militants] wouldn't fire on us.

At first the specified action was to go into a house . . . with an armored personnel carrier . . . and start shooting inside. . . . I call this murder. . . . We were supposed to go up floor by floor, and any person we identified, we were supposed to shoot. I initially asked myself, "Where is the logic?"

They said it was permissible because anyone who remained in the sector was in effect condemned, a terrorist, because they hadn't fled [Sabbah note: Even sick, paralysed, elders, babies, etc...]. I didn't really understand. . . . They don't have anywhere to flee to. . . . This scared me a bit.

I tried to exert some influence, insofar as is possible [in] my subordinate position, to change this. In the end the specification involved going into a house, operating megaphones and telling [the occupants], "Come on, everyone get out. You have five minutes. Leave the house. Anyone who doesn't get out gets killed."

I went to our soldiers and said, "The order has changed. We go into the house, they have five minutes to escape, we check each person who goes out . . . to see that he has no weapons, and then we start going into the house floor by floor to clean it out. . . . This means going into the house, opening fire at everything that moves, throwing a grenade, all those things."

One of my soldiers came to me and asked, "Why?" I said, "What isn't clear? We don't want to kill innocent civilians." He goes, "Yeah? Anyone who's in there is a terrorist, that's a known fact." I said, "Do you think the people there will run away? No one will run away." He says, "That's clear," and then his buddies join in, "We need to murder any person who's in there. Yeah, any person who's in Gaza is a terrorist," and all the other things that they stuff our heads with, in the media.

And then I try to explain to the guy that not everyone in there is a terrorist, and that after he kills, say, three children and four mothers, we'll go upstairs and kill another 20 or so people. . . . I tried to explain why we had to let them leave. . . . It didn't really help. This is really frustrating, to see that they understand that inside Gaza you are allowed to do anything you want, to break down doors for no other reason than it's cool.

[Aviv then described how a sharpshooter killed an elderly woman who had come within 100 yards of a commandeered house.]

ZAMIR: I don't understand. Why did he shoot her?

AVIV: That's what is so nice, supposedly, about Gaza: You see a person on a road. . . . He doesn't have to be with a weapon . . . and you can just shoot him. With us it was an old woman, on whom I didn't see any weapon. The order was to take that person out, that woman, the moment you see her.

ZVI: Aviv's descriptions are accurate, but it's possible to understand where this is coming from. And that woman . . . she wasn't supposed to be there [Sabbah note: if you destroyed her home, street is where you will find her], because there were announcements and there were bombings. Logic says she shouldn't be there. The way you describe it, as murder in cold blood, that isn't right. It's known they have lookouts.

GILAD: Even before we went in, the battalion commander made it clear to everyone that a very important lesson from the second Lebanon war was the way the [army] goes in: with a lot of fire. The intention was to protect soldiers' lives by means of firepower. In the operation, the [army's] losses really were light and the price was that a lot of Palestinians got killed.

[Ram, who serves in a Givati Brigade operations company, described a sniper's killing of a woman and her two children as they walked near a no-go area by mistake.]

ZAMIR: After a killing like that, do they do some sort of investigation in the [army]?

MOSHE: The attitude is very simple: It isn't pleasant to say so, but no one cares at all [Sabbah note: this is the high morality of Israel]. We aren't investigating this. This is what happens during fighting and this is what happens during routine security.

ZAMIR: Among the pilots, is there talk or thoughts of remorse? For example, I was terribly surprised by the enthusiasm surrounding the killing of the Gaza traffic police on the first day of the operation. They took out 180 traffic cops. As a pilot, I would have questioned that.

GIDEON: Tactically speaking, you call them "police." In any case, they are armed and belong to Hamas [Sabbah note: Hamas is elected government and police anywhere in the world is armed, aren't they?].

END.

I feel sick to my stomach after reading the above. This is the hidden truth behind Israel. Least can be described as sick terrorist who have no objective in life but to kill, for no reason.

History tells us that this was the case always with Zionist terrorist gangs and the terrorist Israeli army. Throughout the history, Zionist committed endless number of massacres and murdered tens of thousands of innocents for no reason while the world watch SILENTLY intentionally. Why? That's the question waiting to be answered by Israel supporters.

In short, silence is complicity. Those regimes and countries that have influence on Israel and doing nothing about all their war crimes are nothing but partners in Israel war crimes. No Excuse!

Newspapers publish fuller recollections of what happened during the 22-day offensive, including the killings of an elderly woman and a mother and her two children.
******************************************************************

peacenow,

this is old, old news which has been refuted many times over and debunked as second hand information unsubstantiated and hearsay!!!

If you read this account closely and carefully-- no one ever says-

a) "I killed a civilian!" or -
b) "I saw someone kill a civilian" !!!!

They do nothing more than speak about stories they heard from others!!

Where have you been-- this article is one month old ????

It appears that all it takes is second hand stories and hearsay for you to convinced of someone's guilt.

It's too bad the UN doesn't take these kinds of reports as lightly as you-- they could save a lot of time and effort and expense with the independent investigation team they have assembled and just convict everyone based on this news article!

what goofball!

Actually the Regular American said this is an American site and we don’t like colonizers.
This does not mean that he does not like foreigners. It just means normal Americans don’t support countries who invade other peoples land. Since 1947 all Americans have had their hard earned tax money sent to Israel in the support land grabbing Zionists who illegally occupy foreign territories. If you don’t agree with this, don’t buy Israeli or American products.
In retaliation Dan, Carlos & Gleigh can boycott Palestinian products to bring down Hamas. This won’t make any difference as Israel has already stolen Palestine’s natural resources and imprisoned its people, which is why Hamas exists in the first place.
Let the boycotts begin. Last December, over 1000 Palestinians were murdered by the Israeli army. 12 Israelis’ died, 5 from friendly fire.
Boycott Israeli & American products if you want to help end the illegal occupation.

GLeigh   April 13th, 2009 6:22 pm ET

John – I'm an American and we have one ally in the ME, Israel. They buy our goods. We send aide to Gaza and other places so we don't dislike them, but we are allies with Israel. Have been for decades if you study our history. Our tax money also goes to other countries in the ME. I think our aide needs to stop for awhile till we balance our budget a little, to everyone personally.

GLeigh   April 13th, 2009 6:30 pm ET

Perhaps something good will come from the recession – places will stop sending out aide except to hurricane, earthquake, whatever natural disaster victims in immediate need, and people will have to stop spending time fighting and spend more time producing to feed and make medicines for our over populated world. I would like to see more gardens and industry and less homemade missiles and bomb vests.

GLeigh   April 13th, 2009 6:36 pm ET

And John – I keep hearing the word stolen. Read the history, WWI and the British Mandate. WWII and the UN making Israel a nation. Israel being attacked in 1967 and the Six Day War, on and on. It is illegal to attack another country. So the 1967 war was illegal, but Israel didn't start it. Go back further, the Roman Empire and the Jewish people, whatever. Finger point though. It's helpful. I think it would be nice if the few other countries recognized Israel's right to exist and didn't want to drive it into the sea. That would be helpful. Until then, there isn't going to be peace. That's the main issue; the other stuff is just distraction on who did what and when and where. Israel existing is reality.

GLeigh   April 13th, 2009 6:38 pm ET

Have a lovely week and think about the issues. There are distractions, the Masters, XBOX 360, on and on, but is about whether people have a right to exist. I think they do, peacefully. May not ever happen. But since this is a religious area in general and there is God love everywhere, I'm hopeful. Later.

John   April 13th, 2009 8:25 pm ET

GLeigh seems you have forgotten about the occupied territories. The UN and the entire world have requested Israel to withdraw from this STOLEN land.
Boycott Israeli & American products if you want to help end the illegal occupation.

As for History Gleigh should try something other than Fox news. Try this....
The future of Palestine ((pronounced PAL-es-tine)) was contentious from the beginning of the Palestine Mandate since the British declared support for a "Jewish national home in Palestine" even though most of the population were Arabs. It was also, according to one common view, the subject of British promises to the Arabs (creation of a large Pan-Arab state; promised to the Sharif of Mecca in exchange for Arab help fighting the Ottoman Empire) during World War I. Therefore, it is not surprising that many different proposals have been made and continue to be made, including an Arab state, with or without a significant Jewish population, a Jewish state, with or without a significant Arab population, a single bi-national state, with or without some degree of cantonization, two states, one bi-national and one Arab, with or without some form of federation, and two states, one Jewish and one Arab, with or without some form of federation.

At the same times, many Arab leaders believed that Palestine should join a larger Arab state covering the imprecise region of the Levant. These hopes were expressed in the Faisal-Weizmann Agreement, which was signed by soon-to-be Iraqi ruler Faisal I and the Zionist leader Chaim Weizmann, which called for a Jewish homeland in Palestine amidst a larger Arab state. Despite this, the promise of a Pan-Arab state including Palestine were dashed as Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan declared independence from their European rulers, while Palestine festered in the developing Arab-Israeli Conflict.

In light of these developments, Palestinian Arabs began calling for both their own state in the British Mandate of Palestine and an end to the British support of the Jewish homeland's creation and to Jewish immigration. The movement gained steam through the 1920s and 1930s as Jewish immigration picked up. Under pressure from the arising nationalist movement, the British enforced the White Papers, a series of laws greatly restricting Jewish immigration and the sale of lands to Jews. The laws, passed in 1922, 1930, and 1939, varied in severity, but all attempted to find a balance between British sympathies with the Jews and the Arabs.

Finally, the 1936-1939 Arab revolt in Palestine led the British to create the Peel Commission, which produced the first concrete suggestion for a Palestinian state. The Commission's report published in 1937 called for a small Jewish state in the Galilee and maritime strip, a British enclave stretching from Jerusalem to Yafo and an Arab state covering the rest.[3] The plan also called for a large population transfer. Jewish leaders accepted the plan, while Arab leaders rejected it and the two subsequent proposals offered by the Peel Commission.

The first Zionist colony (Petach Tiqva) was established in Palestine in 1878 and from 1882 to 1903 about 25,000 Zionists migrated to Palestine to escape persecution in Russia and Poland. The Zionists at the time had the financial backing of the French Baron E. de Rothschild, a scion of the wealthiest European banking family, and organizational support from the Jewish Colonization Association (JCA). In 1897, the First Zionist Congress in Switzerland issued the Basle Program "calling for a home for the Jewish people in Palestine" and established the World Zionist Organization (WZO) to achieve that goal. A second wave of approximately 40,000 illegal Zionist immigrants came to Palestine from 1904 to 1914, more than doubling the total number of Jews in Palestine at the time. While the Ottomans realized the danger of allowing Zionists to settle in Palestine and passed restrictions on Jewish immigration to Palestine in the wake of the establishment of the Zionist movement, Jews circumvented these restrictions by acquiring the protection of foreign consuls under the capitulations laws.

regular american   April 13th, 2009 9:53 pm ET

(1920 – 1947 A.D.) THE BRITISH MANDATE: During the British Mandate, Jewish immigration into Palestine increased dramatically as did their land holdings. More than 400,000 Jews immigrated into Palestine during the Mandate, increasing their percentage of the overall population from about 8% in 1920 (with the vast majority of those being recent immigrants) to about 30% at the end of the Mandate. The percentage of Palestinian land owned by Jews increased from 1.7% of the total Palestinian land in 1920 to about 6% in 1947. The economic situation for the vast majority of Palestinians also deteriorated throughout the British occupation. Over 90% of the Palestinian Muslims were farmers whose economic livelihood was decimated by British exploitation. According to the terms of the Mandate, Palestine could not create any tariffs against members of the League of Nations allowing countries with excess surpluses to dump both agricultural and industrial goods in the Palestinian market. This became a frequent practice after the onset of the worldwide Depression. Agricultural production in the Palestinian sector dropped dramatically during the Mandate as imports increased and peasants went further into debt and were increasingly being forced off the land. The Jews, on the other hand, had access to huge amounts of external capital that poured into the area from wealthy American and European Jews. Politically, the Zionists had formal representation in the Mandate government, something the Palestinians never enjoyed. Even more importantly, the Zionists wielded considerable influence over the Mandatory power from their ability to influence British policy through Zionist representatives in London. In addition to Zionist political and economic prerogatives, the British, especially during the 1936-1939 Arab Revolt, organized and armed Jewish military formations while Palestinians were prohibited from owning any weapons. Organized Jewish terrorist attacks on Palestinian buses, marketplaces and places of worship began in earnest in 1937 and after World War II were expanded to include British targets, such as the King David Hotel. The Palestinians resisted both the British occupation as well as Zionist incursions and thousands were killed or executed during the Mandate. Hajj Amin al-Husayni, who quickly emerged as the unquestioned leader of the Palestinian resistance, was forced into exile in 1937. Throughout the Mandate, the Palestinians maintained a consistent refusal to admit that any part of Palestine could be given to the Zionists. Hitler’s extermination of millions of Jews during World War II (1939-1945) increased international sympathy for the Zionist cause.

regular american   April 13th, 2009 9:57 pm ET

During World War II, the international Zionist movement moved its headquarters from London to the United States, which emerged from the war as the most powerful economic and military power in the world. After the war, Zionist terrorist attacks in Palestine were accelerated making the occupation increasingly expensive for the British. All British attempts to stem the terrorism were criticized by the United States which increasingly pressured the British to accede to all Zionist demands, including most prominently, the issuance of 100,000 new immigration certificates for European Jews. Facing such pressures, the British in February 1947 declared that they would hand over the Palestinian issue to the newly established United Nations. In August, the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine (UNSCOP) called for the end of the British Mandate and the creation of procedures leading to the independence of Palestine. The majority of UNSCOP members advocated the partition of Palestine into Palestinian and Jewish states. Before the UN even voted on the proposal, the British declared that they would withdraw from Palestine on May 15, ending the Mandate unilaterally. On Nov. 29, after strong American pressure on a number of member countries, the UN voted to partition Palestine, a plan quickly rejected by the Palestinians. Hostility between Palestinians and Jews increased after the vote as the well-armed Jewish troops that had been organized during the Mandate period began a war of terror in the cities and began establishing military control over the areas granted to them under the UN plan. The Palestinians also began organizing their forces, but they were short of weaponry and lacked the kind of coordination that would enable them to mount a sustained resistance. The Zionists undertook a major offensive in early April, 1948 which involved the undertaking of brutal massacres, such as that at Dayr Yassin on April 9, and other terrorist acts. By May 14, the Zionists had taken control over all the areas granted to them by the UN and, one day before Britain formally handed over its powers in Palestine, declared the state of Israel. Within hours, the United States declared its recognition of the new state. After the British withdrew, fighting units from Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia entered Palestine but were outmaneuvered by the Israeli forces and lacked any coordination. Jordan, which had the most powerful army, did not even undertake any sustained offensives, preferring to establish defensive perimeters around the areas they coveted. The Jordanian leader, King Abdullah, had in fact been in contact with Zionist leaders since 1947 and had expressed to them his support for partition of Palestine with Jordan taking control of the Arab section. Sharing similar aims with the Zionists, little actual fighting took place between the two armies. During the wars which lasted from May until July of 1948, the Israelis were able to substantially expand their holdings beyond what they were given by the UN. When Count Folke Bernadotte of Sweden, the first UN mediator to try to bring an end to the hostilities, challenged some of the Zionist assumptions he was assassinated by a Zionist terrorist group. His successor, Ralph Bunche of the United States, negotiated a cessation of hostilities between Israel and the Arab states that was concluded in July 1949, enabling Israel to keep the territories they had taken by force, while placing the remaining parts of Palestine under Jordanian and Egyptian control. Even before the negotiations had started, King Abdullah formally proclaimed the unity of Arab Palestine (usually referred to as the West Bank) and Jordan. During the war, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forced from their homes. Of the 860,000 Arabs who lived in the parts of Palestine that came under Israeli occupation, only 133,000 remained. Of the rest, 470,000 entered refugee camps in the Jordanian-controlled West Bank and the Gaza Strip, then held by Egypt. The remainder were dispersed into Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan proper.

ROTFLOL !!!!!!!!

John-- who's land do you occupy ???? Do you live in the US???

If so-- you occupy land that someone stole--- from the original inhabitants!!!!!

Or is that OK-- because it's the USA ????? The epitome of colonization!!!!!

John-– get over it-– you're argument is lame and without merit-- that's why no court in the entire world will ever consider reversing the decision made by the UN in 1947!

It's time to move on !!!!!

Carlos   April 13th, 2009 10:34 pm ET

John,

Your cut and paste job addressed to GLeigh is quite amusing!!! you pawn it off to be something that you need to explain to a lay person -–what a joke!!!!!

The best part is this-- and I quote--"These hopes were expressed in the Faisal-Weizmann Agreement, which was signed by soon-to-be Iraqi ruler Faisal I and the Zionist leader Chaim Weizmann, which called for a Jewish homeland in Palestine amidst a larger Arab state."

Who -– pray tell- is this "soon to be Iraqi leader Faisal I" ???? Is this guy the replacement for Al-Malaki? Or are you just citing ancient history???

What joke and ploy of deception you attempt to pass off !!!!!

Are you a disciple of professor albania or mohammed gharbagi????

What a joke you are!!!!!

But here's something to think about;

1) Palestine is a Roman word for a conquered Judea!
2) The Jews lived in Judea as far back as 1000BCE
3) Roman Emperor Hadrian renamed the land of Judea as Palestine, pronounced (PAL-es-tine) in 150AD- after the Romans expelled the Jews.
4) The word for Jew in Portugués is Judeu-– see any connection there?????
5) Arabs are from Arabia !!!!!!
6) Jordan is the name of a river!!!!

Do you see a pattern?????

Do you ever feel like your in a no win situation ??????

---History-- is really irrelevant at this point in time. No one in power in world politics cares!!! That's a simple fact !! So, attempting to sway world opinion based upon history will never change the course that has been taken.

It's like hoping to change the of Nile--- back to it's original course 2000 years ago--- when the the ancient city of Alexandria was at the mouth of the river.-- it will never happen!!!! Get over it

Israeli products--- are you sure??? that means no computers! Or anything that contains a CPU, microprocessor or ICB.

It also means -- ALL-- ICU, CCU equipment and diagnostic equipment used in your medical labs, hospitals and emergency services units!

You really have no clue what kind of nonsense your spewing!!!!

If you follow your own advice-- you better pray that you nor anyone that you know becomes ill and needs medical services. Because if they do-- they're screwed-– the might as well go see the faith healer.

Please-- don't take my word for it--- do your own research-- then decide for yourself-– can you afford to write off the technology that the US obtains from the Israelis?????

John   April 14th, 2009 1:30 pm ET

If you want to help end the illegal occupation, boycott American & Israeli products

Carlos you ask about my nationality and assume that I am American. You go on to say that America was founded on colonization and imply no American has the right to object to Israel's colonization.

I will not ask for your ethnic ancestry, although it must be very incestuous for you to command such intelligence.

But to answer some of your ridiculous points
1. King David conquered a city and renamed it Jerusalem. Therefor the Jews never founded this city.
2. Jews were allowed to practice there faith in Palestine many thousands of years ago. Being allowed to practice faith within a foreign culture does not give Jews ownership of the land.
3. The last time the Jews controlled this region was 1000 years before Christ. Since then it was always controlled by Arabic powers with the exception of Greek dominance under Alexander and later the Roman invasion.
4. You claim American's cant object to colonization as America was founded on colonization. If you were not so prejudice you would have got the point. The point being we can not turn the clock back hundreds or thousands of years. Therefore your argument that Jews ruled a region over 2000 years ago gives no justification for returning borders to an ancient past.
5. No I'm not American, but this is has nothing to do with Israel's occupation of international recognized Palestinian land.
6. The truth is the only law that counts amounts to what a man can get away with. And for the last 60 years Zionists have been able to get way with the deposition of Palestinian property. The fact that Imperial powers have supported this does not make it morally correct. At one time in History the people of Boston also rebelled against the authority and so called law. In this way America won independence. In 1790 how would the people of Boston re-acted if the British decided to evacuate them from their homes in preference of Zionist immigrants. Obviously this would have been another good reason for a war of independence. Yasser Arrafat could not muster the same army as George Washington. The PLO lost the battle and so the victors demonize them as terrorists. Washington would have been hung if he lost . He would of also been remembered as a terrorist.
7. As for boycotting American & Israeli goods. Its has already started in Europe. Germany is the worlds biggest exporter and China/ India are now I.T. giants. So sorry mate, we can live without American technology which has been invested into Israel to help prop up a false nation built on the theft of other peoples land and resources.

If you want to help end the illegal occupation, boycott American & Israeli products

John   April 14th, 2009 9:50 pm ET

If you want to help end the illegal occupation, boycott American & Israeli products!

In reality law amounts to what a man can get away with. And for the last 60 years Zionists have been able to forcefully remove Palestinians from the properties they were born in, in order to construct new Israeli settlements. They have been able to get away with it, but this does not make it morally correct.

Zionists have been protected from the condemnation of international law as America has always vetoed such condemnation at the United Nations. So Israel continues with illegal, land grabbing & war like behaviour with political America’s full support. Unfortunately ordinary Americans have never been granted a referendum concerning their billions of hard earned tax revenue spent on propping up Israel.

If you want to help end the illegal occupation, boycott American & Israeli products!

The world community and the United Nations request Israel to end its illegal occupation, to stop building new settlements on land which has been international agreed on as Palestinian and to stop taking all the natural resources from Palestinian territory & Israel must return to the 1967 borders.

John Wayne do you know anything about Camp David? Israel has always demanded complete control of all the territories natural resources. The Palestinians were only offered land unsuitable for sustainable development.

If you want to help end the illegal occupation, boycott American & Israeli products!

If you want to know what is really happening in Palestine, listen to any global news organisation which is not under U.S. or Israeli ownership. You have the internet, so use it. Ignorance is no longer an excuse for Americans who support Israel’s illegal occupation.

As for a boycott of American & Israeli goods, it has already started in Europe. Germany is the world’s biggest exporter and China, India & Japan are technology giants. We can live without American technology which has been invested into Israel to help prop up a false nation built on the theft of other peoples land and resources.

If you want to help end the illegal occupation, boycott American & Israeli products.

As for the uneducated who claim the land historically belongs to Israel

1. King David conquered a city and renamed it Jerusalem. Therefore the Jews never founded this city.

2. Jews were allowed to practice their faith in Palestine many thousands of years ago. Being allowed to practice faith within a foreign culture does not give Jews ownership of the land.

3. The last time the Jews controlled this region was 1000 years before Christ. Since then it was always controlled by Arabic powers with the exception of Greek dominance under Alexander the Great and later the Roman invasion. After the Romans it went back to Arab control although European crusaders held power for 100 years. It remained under Arab control until the British took charge in 1918. The Jews have been a very small ethnic minority in this region for 3000 years.

We can’t turn the clock back hundreds or thousands of years. Therefore to argue that Jews ruled the region over 3000 years ago gives no justification for returning borders to an ancient past.

If you want to help end the illegal occupation, boycott American & Israeli products!

I.B. Wright   April 15th, 2009 5:23 am ET

John- you are a wise man.

Carlos.....not so much. The world depends on Israel but Israel doesn't depend on anyone right Carlos? I'm surprised Israel hasn't flexed it's technological muscle to confiscate more land from it's neighbors..... including Portugal since you seem to be a little concerned about it . Don't worry, as long as there's a buck to be made, the ICU and CCU components will continue to flow from Israel. LMAO!!
