BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN)-- Four people were killed and an
unspecified number of others were injured when U.S. and
British warplanes attacked Iraqi service installations and military sites Tuesday, an Iraqi military spokesman said.
At the Incirlik Air Base in Turkey, Operation Northern Watch said U.S. jets dropped laser-guided bombs on anti-aircraft sites northeast and south of Mosul in the northern no-fly zone. A warplane also launched a missile at an anti-aircraft radar site northeast of Mosul.
The Iraqi military communiquè said that Iraqi air defenses
challenged the enemy aircraft, and that black smoke was seen
"accompanying" one of the planes as it went back to Turkey.
Northern Watch officials said all planes returned safely.
