INCIRLIK AIR BASE, Turkey (CNN) -- U.S. warplanes dropped laser-guided bombs on Iraqi targets Tuesday in the northern no-fly zone.
Commanders said the attack marked the 36th day that U.S. jets have attacked Iraqi targets after what the United States said were threats from Iraq.
According to the European U.S. Command, U.S. F-15 jets dropped laser-guided bombs on several Iraqi anti-aircraft artillery sites northwest of Mosul around noon local time.
The U.S. aircraft responded in self defense, commanders said, and returned safely to the base.
