TAMPA, Florida (CNN) -- The karaoke craze that swept the
nation is now hitting a smaller section of the population --
nudists.
A growing number of nudists are becoming regulars at weekly
karaoke bars, jumping on stage to belt out a tune in the
nude.
So far, nude karaoke has been met with admiration and
nonchalance.
Bob, a Canadian nudist, enjoys the freedom of singing without
the confines of clothes. "It's great. You can sing; you
don't have to worry about how you are dressed. You just put
on your skin and let out a tune," he says.
Non-nudists enjoy the show as well, expressing admiration for
the singers' guts, if not for their ability. One clothed patron says being naked does not make him uncomfortable ... singing on stage does.
"Taking your clothes off is not scary. It's the singing that
is the scary part. I mean, anybody can take their clothes
off. It's the singing that gets real hard. You don't want
to make a fool of yourself," he adds.
The performing nudists claim they are not self-conscious
about appearing on stage and are proud to be able to express
themselves.
