MOSCOW (CNN) -- Drive-in theaters are rapidly becoming a thing of the past in the United States, where the drive-in was once the location of choice for dates and family outings alike.

But in Russia, the big outdoor screen is brand new technology. Moscow's Kinodrome offers a concession stand choice between meat pies and cabbage pies, and the patrons come as much to mingle as to see the film.

CNN's Steve Harrigan goes to the movies, Russian style.
