(CNN) -- A poll commissioned by CNN International about NATO's campaign against Yugoslavia found that heavy majorities of those surveyed in five NATO countries favor the removal of Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic as a part of any peace settlement. Respondents in France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States also overwhelmingly
favored trying Milosevic as a war criminal.
Although respondents in all five countries favored separate province status for Kosovo, there was some support for independence, notably in France and Italy.
NATO got generally good marks across the board for its handling of the military campaign, with the most negatives coming from Italy.
The results varied most on the question of ground troops, with those in the United Kingdom showing the most support, while Germans voiced the most opposition.
