PODUJEVO, Yugoslavia (CNN) -- With no end in sight to the political dispute over the Serbian province of Kosovo and a renewed outbreak of fighting, people on both sides of the ethnic divide are unsure about the future.

But for ethnic Serbs in the disputed province, outnumbered 9-to-1 by ethnic Albanians, fear is palpable, and they are no longer convinced Serbian authorities can protect them.

CNN's Nic Robertson visited with a Serbian couple who have chosen to stay in their uneasy home.
