A low-altitude interdictor that accommodates one pilot and one weapons-systems officer in tandem, the Tornado is made by a consortium of German, Italian and British firms. It has a maximum speed of Mach 2.2 and a range of 3,890 kilometers (2,417 mph). It is armed with two 27 mm cannons, and British versions can carry nuclear weapons.

The aircraft's length is 54 feet 10 inches (15.72 meters) and its wingspan is 45 feet 7 inches (13.91 meters.) Maximum weight at takeoff is 61,620 pounds (27,950 kilograms.)
