Penguins forsake the Falklands for a Spanish resort

TENERIFE, Spain (CNN) -- Nine newly hatched penguins are settling into this balmy Spanish resort island after being moved from the colder climes of the Falkland Islands.

The King penguins are the first to hatch from a batch of 117 eggs shipped to Tenerife. Their new home is at El Loro Park, where a compound has been designed to match their natural habitat.

Park organizers hope the penguins will become the star attraction at its nature reserve, which eventually should be home to about 200 penguins from five or six species.
