  • Croatia has a bicameral parliament, or Hrvatski Drzavni Sabor, consisting of a 68-member House of Counties (Zupanijski Dom) and a House of Representatives (Zastupnicki Dom) with 151 seats
Description of electoral system:
  • The president is popularly elected to a five-year term and is responsible for appointing the prime minister who heads the Zastupnicki Dom.
  • All of the approximately 150-members of the Zastupnicki Dom are popularly elected to four-year terms. Specific minority groups elect five spots.
  • In the Zupanijski Dom, 63 of the 68-members are popularly elected and the remaining five are appointed by the president. All members serve four-year terms.
