Description
of electoral system:
- The king is a
hereditary monarch.
- All 200 members of the Senate are elected by simple majority vote in multi-member constituencies to six-year terms.
- In the House of
Representatives, 400 members are elected by simple majority vote in
single member constituencies and 100 members are elected via party lists.
All members serve four-year terms.

seats elected through a party-list system.
- The March 4, 2000,
election was Thailand's first election to the Senate. Prior to the Constitution
of 1997, the king appointed all members of the Senate.
