JAKARTA, Indonesia (CNN) -- More than a dozen people are missing after a violent clash between supporters of rival Muslim-oriented parties which cost at least four lives, according to local news accounts.

The Kompas daily said on Monday that 14 people still had not been found after the violent incident, which occurred on Friday in the central Java town of Jepara, about 440 km (270 miles) east of Jakarta.

The clash was between supporters of the Awakening Party and the rival United Development Party (PPP).

The regional head of the Nation Awakening Party (PKB), Muhammady Kosim, was quoted as saying that all of the missing were members of the party.

A total of 48 political parties are competing in the June 7 parliamentary election, which comes amid a wave of unrest and riots.

PKB Secretary General Muhaimin Iskandar has said that clashes between supporters of the two parties had been frequent in recent months but the Jepara incident was the first in which people had died.

Reuters contributed to this report.
