Chinese to ring in Year of the Rabbit

BEIJING (CNN) -- China on Tuesday will officially welcome in the lunar Year of the Rabbit which, according to tradition, should bring good luck and fortune.

Many shops stayed open late on Monday as people made last-minute holiday purchases. And millions of Chinese travel far during the holiday to visit family and friends.

CNN's Beijing Bureau Chief Rebecca MacKinnon reports on the new year's hustle and bustle in the capital, Beijing.
